"Stop where you are!" Alpha Domino exclaims as his voice echoes through my head. Opening my eyes, it takes a few seconds for them to adjust till I hear another noise and quickly focus on it.
This time it is Arabella's voice I hear, and she is screaming loud and clear, "Let me go, damn it. I'm not one of them, I am a human."
That is when I hear Alpha Robert's voice from behind her bellow full of anger, "I know. That is precisely why we are here. To get rid of the trash that Julian has let in. We don't appreciate humans and since you are one of them, you soon will be dead. Now hold still."
"Don't you dare!" I roar at the top of my lungs.
They hadn't realized that I have stood up and now I am busy rushing at them with my claws out. After all, I am hoping to reach them before they can ever harm a hair on Arabella's head. With my super speed, I reach them in no time and rip their throats out.
Alpha Domino cries out in pain. He feels my claws dig into his side before I reach his throat too and stop him from screaming. Blood sprays across the room when my jaws clamp down on him.
After I release him, I realize that the only one left standing besides myself, is Alpha Robert. I look over at him and see that he is busy running away from me with Arabella dragging behind him. Quickly, I race after them and catch up right before I hear Arabella cry, "No, don't do that. Please."
As I turn the corner, I see her in his arms and his fangs are two inches from her throat. I roar before I slam into him and stop him from ripping off her flesh and ending her. Forcing him to the floor, I bite down hard on his shoulder before taking my claws and shredding his throat.
Once again, I see the blood spray all over before I turn to Arabella and see that she is lying on the floor. She is sobbing and murmuring something under her breath, till I grab ahold of her hand and help her up. "I am so sorry Arabella. This should have never happened. It is all my fault. From now on, I will make sure you are always well protected, because you are my Luna after all." I whisper so softly that she stares at me with tear-stained eyes and doesn't say another word.
At that moment, I don't know who is more terrified by what went on. Me or her? Because if they had succeeded and killed her, my world would have ended. From now on, no matter what, I will be at her side through thick and thin. Even if it kills me.
Finally, after things seem to calm down and all the rest of the rogues have been run off, Arabella starts to relax in my presence. I pick her up and take her to my bedroom, where I lay her down on the bed so she may rest for a while. The whole time she lies there, I keep remembering earlier when I almost lost her. Shaking my head, I watch her fall asleep and then I strip my clothes off before getting underneath the covers with her.
After several hours of tossing and turning, I finally climb out of bed and sit on the edge. I stare at the window and then decide to stand up and see what that noise is I keep hearing.
"Tap, tap"
"Tap, tap"
Hearing it again, I close in on the window before glancing back at Arabella to make sure she is sleeping. Then I return my attention to the window and that irritating tapping noise. When I glance outside, I see a bird sitting on the ledge and it is eating the caulking from the windowsill. If it keeps going like it is, in no time it will make the window fall to the ground below.
Obviously, I can't have that, so I scare the bird away by opening the window and then making a mental note to have someone look at it tomorrow. Then, once the bird has left, I shut the window for the night, so Arabella doesn't catch her death. I frown when I turn around and see her staring at me.
She raises up into a sitting position before cocking her head and asking, "What were you doing?"
I laugh and state, "There was a bird outside, it was trying to eat at the lining. If it kept it up, we probably would have not had a window by the time we woke up."
"Oh." She says as her voice trails off.
Then she starts to frown, while glancing down at the covers. "Do you always sleep naked?" She asks while sounding more curious then scared to find out for sure.
I pause and swallow hard as I look down to where she is trying not to look. Seeing that I have an erection, she is probably wondering if that is because of her. Yes and no.
Normally when I wake up from an erotic dream, I have one. But now with her staring at it, it only makes it worse. Matter of fact, I bet if I tried to put my pants on right now, it would hurt. Really hurt.
So, I tell her, "Yes, I do." Even though that is a lie.
If I told her that usually I don't even bother taking them off at night, she would freak out or think something else entirely. Instead, I play it cool and pretend that it is a normal occurrence, so she doesn't wonder what ulterior motives are running through my mind. In the end, she leaves it alone, so I guessed right. Thank goodness.
She seems pleased enough by my answer to relax again and lay her head back on the pillow. At least till she sees me heading towards my clothes. Then she sits back up and asks, "Won't you come lie back down with me? I like feeling you holding me while I sleep. It comforts me." She looks down just after she says it and then continues, "I know you think it weird of me, but I rather like the idea of you protecting me with your life. It makes me warm all over. Is it O.K. to tell you that? This is all new to me." She seems to be scared or something, so I close the space between us and climb back on the bed before she lies her head down.
Snuggling up next to her, I take a chance and lean my head down to kiss her neck softly. When I do, she makes a sound like a cat purring almost and then she pushes her butt against my erection, making it virtually impossible to sleep. I sigh and then close my eyes, because this is going to be the longest night of my life.
