Chapter 2 - Impossible Task

The rays of the sun fell on every strand of Samantha's hair. It was crimson as though blood was flowing like a waterfall. It gave off a feeling that her very hair was as though seeking for the stench of blood.

Her smile was more like a grin, and it appeared that it was her natural expression. Her crimson eyes shone brightly as though they loved to cause trouble.

Now that she had spoken, and the first to answer Dugo, the other kids around her were most likely thinking the same way. Their reasons... It didn't fall far off from Samantha's.

After all, that impossible task was concerning the Primordial Beings, the embodiment of laws that were at the very peak of the world even before, in the beginning, today, and the time to come. If those creatures were involved, how could they ever accomplish it?

Not to mention, they were not certain whether those creatures existed or not a moment ago before they inherited the power of the symbols, they didn't even know where or how to find them. Much less, dealing with them. Thinking up to this point, the only thing they could possibly do, as for the moment, was to be united and form an unbreakable bond to build up their future step by step. They thought that perhaps, if they gained a certain level of strength, they would naturally learn about the Primordial Beings.

Of course, they could be stronger if they act alone, but being together with each other could save most troubles as they could get stronger much quicker. And also, with the world they were living in, where people were most likely to devour each other to gain strength, they really needed someone to rely on. At least someone who was trustworthy enough for them to entrust their lives to.

And from the looks of it, the people before them were the perfect choice.

"Since my best friend has already agreed, and since it was boss Dugo who asked me, I will naturally agree as well!" A gleeful voice chimed in. It was Jenna, the girl sitting on Dugo's right side and Samantha's left.

Her ashen hair, though it seemed like it had not been combed for a long time, was firm and strong. Her sharp eyes of magenta could give the airs of the strong as though she had endured and overcome many intense physical trainings.

She also gave off a vibe that fell in now way to those of the beasts as though just being with her presence alone could ignite agitation and restlessness. From the looks of it, loving to cause trouble was also her passion.

Dugo nodded in response. A slight smile appeared on his lips. With these two agreeing, there were only two other people left.

After all, Sael, one of the kids in there who was sitting on Dugo's left side, was with him at the beginning. Although Sael hated those other kids before them as he had formed a few little grievances with them, he would definitely agree, with Dugo proposing to form the little group. That said, Dugo could only wait for the response of two people.

Dugo shifted his gaze as it fell on the boy sitting on his opposite side before shifting to the girl sitting on the left side of Sael. He looked at them, anticipating an answer.

"That's not a problem at all. I agree as well." Finally, Lucas, the boy sitting opposite to Dugo, agreed. He wore a warm and innocent smile as around him, a peaceful and righteous aura was lingering. The complete opposite of Samantha and Jenna.

Lucas had short purple hair. His eyes were deep purple. He had a fairly small build, appearing to be slightly thinner and shorter than Dugo and Sael.

But if one had better senses, one could tell that, despite his humble appearance, a power that could overpower the most was lurking deep within, suppressed by his very nature.

Dugo, on the other hand, smiled at the other party's response. He nodded at him with satisfaction.

Shortly after, Dugo shifted his gaze at the last person who he was waiting for an answer. The smile remained on his lips as he asked, "How about you, Julia?"

Julia, a girl in silver hair sitting beside Lucas, was a bit agitated by Dugo's question. Her golden eyes blinked in shyness, her face turned a bit redder.

Julia found it hard to meet Dugo in the eye, making her avert her eyes on the table instead. Hesitation filled her heart, she didn't know what to say.

On the one hand, she really wanted to join the little group that Dugo was trying to form. Not only because she inheritted the power of the "wing symbol", but also because she wanted to be with Dugo for as long as possible.

But on the other hand, she was the princess of the Luz kingdom after all. She couldn't just leave her responsibility, right? Putting aside her father, the king, would be enraged, it was still doubtful if she could escape his people. She was certain that if she tried to run away with Dugo and the others, it wouldn't take long before they were found out.

If that happened, then the consequences wouldn't be any good for her and the others. At the very least, she would be arrested in the house for a few years, while on the other hand, Dugo and the others might be arrested in the dungeon for being accused of kidnapping the princess.

At most, with the King doting so much for her, once the King found out that his dear daughter had gone missing, Julia was certain that Dugo and the others were likely to be executed once they were caught. Although Julia had some voice, the wrath of her royal father was scary. If that time came, she might only be allowed to mourn in her room, incapable of bringing even a tiny help at all.

"What's there to hesitate?" Suddenly Samantha from the side cut in as she rolled her eyes and continued, "Since your father sent you to Purple Mist Forest with your elder brother, it was definitely for you two to gain experiences and see the outside world with your own eyes. If what your father wants is truly for you to gain experience, he will certainly allow you to come with us."

"That..." Julia wanted to say something in response but she found it hard to find the right word to say.

It was true that she and her elder brother were sent away by their royal father for them to gain worldly experience. So, if she used the matter of gaining worldly experience as an excuse to join their little group, her royal father might really allow it.

However, she still couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy. After all, if she joined this group, she might not come back home for quite some time. That "gaining worldly experience" might not work for far too long as her royal father might be worried and start searching for her. Although she really would gain real worldly experience with those people around her, she was still a princess after all. Her life was far more important than worldly experience in the eyes of her royal father.

And also, she was only allowed to go out to gain worldly experience because there was someone trustworthy to guard them. If she went out without anyone watching over her, her royal father might really disapprove of it.

Contemplating deeply regarding the matter, Julia fell into a moment of silence. She had a lot more to consider. She couldn't make a wrong choice.

But when she thought about the "important task" given to them, she had finally gotten the right answer.

Thus, Julia took a deep breath as she finally responded. Her eyes were gleaming with determination. "Fine then. I will join your little group. Please take care of me."
