Early next morning, Sophia had a visitor.
Laura had just opened the door when a young and lively voice rushed in.
"Good morning, Aunt Laura!"
It was Sophia's good friend Olivia.
"Good morning. Are you here to see Sophia?"
Laura smiled and welcomed Olivia into the living room and poured her a glass of water.
Olivia took the glass with ease and said excitedly, "I made an appointment with Sophia last week to volunteer at the church today. I've been looking forward to it for a week!"
Laura sat down and showed a troubled expression. "I'm afraid she can't make it today. She's not feeling well and needs some rest."
"Ah?" Olivia's enthusiasm was instantly dampened. "What's wrong with her? Is she alright?"
"Olivia!"
Before Laura could think of a reason, Sophia, who had heard the commotion, came down from her room and called out her good friend's name.
The two girls hugged happily.
