As Alex started to corner me, the door to the room opened. I watched Edward walk out before he transformed into his tall wolf form and dug his canine teeth deep into Alex's flesh. Alex still stubbornly called me his mate. But in the end, Alex paid the price for his vulgarity and stubbornness as he scurried away. The scene was a little cruel, but Alex's pain was nothing compared to the pain I had endured for eight years.
