Leonard Ethan's theory persuaded everyone in the room, so two days later, Leonard boarded a plane to Athens with Joan and an entire White Knight Security Squad, along with several Golden Dawn members, and then took a ship straight to their destination.
Because of the previous involvement with Atlantis, the Golden Dawn just happened to have a dedicated exploration ship active near Greece, which now was conveniently used to transport supplies and Leonard and others to the excavation site.
The reason for bringing the White Knight Security Squad was simple: after all, they were going to be in direct conflict with the personnel of the Thule Society, so there was a good chance that some violent confrontations could occur.
As the voyage was going to take some time, Joan and Leonard went to the aft deck's free area to get some fresh air, and it was at this moment that Joan asked a question that had long piqued her curiosity.
