Having finished their inspection work in Jordan, Leonard and others boarded a plane to Paris. They were not heading home right away mainly because Mr. Doris had sent an invitation to his upcoming birthday party.
This was not a common occurrence for Mr. Doris, as he had not participated in such private events for several years since falling ill, attending only purely commercial activities.
As for why a birthday party was being held this time, it probably had something to do with Joan. The family now had a new heir and intended to use this event to introduce their heir to everyone.
