Although these people did check the ventilation ducts and make some defense before the negotiation, they never expected that an animal could pass through such a complex network of pipes.
Of course, to avoid being detected, the raven did not directly enter the secret chamber through the ventilation duct but chose to pinpoint the locations from a bend in a nearby pipe by listening.
Ravens have much better hearing than humans, so even the slightest sounds inside the chamber would be captured and used to locate the targets' specific positions.
