After returning to the residential housing, they found a room on the second floor with intact window glass and pried open the door to enter. Then they went downstairs several times to bring all their luggage, including the bicycle, into the room and used the bicycle to prop up the damaged lock on the door.
After all this was done, they used the snow they had just brought up from downstairs, melted it, and heated up some self-heating food in the empty living room. They then stepped on the heating pad and used a nail to attach a thick oil cloth to the window.
When all this was finished, the self-heating food was ready, and the sky outside had darkened. Leonard and the others lit an emergency candle and, using the faint light from the flame, ate their dinner.
Now everything was going according to plan, and they´d successfully used an afternoon to find the secret answer. Next, they would spend the night here and return after dawn tomorrow.
