Before the competition, Leonard's biggest concern was that Joan's extensive combat experience could cause her to use techniques suitable for real combat but forbidden in the competition.
However, during practice, Leonard found that Joan adapted quickly to the competition rules. After only five or six rounds, she could ensure that every move she used was within the scope of the rules.
"In fact, our era had more than just wars; there were many interesting activities," Joan said with a smile when she realized what Leonard had been worried about.
"For example, in our time, there were many knightly tournaments. Initially, they used blunt swords, but later, for safety reasons, they began to use wooden swords of various types."
"There were no uniform rules for these tournaments, so I've seen some limitations, such as requiring the tips of weapons to be rounded and not allowing thrusting attacks."
