After three hours of searching, Leonard and his team managed to piece together a Han Baiyu stone slab roughly 1.5 meters long and 80 centimeters wide. Although they found only a little over 60% of the fragments, they could more or less see what it was.
The stone slab was carved with the image of a Buddhist monk, who had a round face, slightly raised eyebrows, thin lips, and deep mouth corners, giving people a peaceful and comfortable feeling. Judging by the lotus throne on which he was sitting and the glow behind him, it was most likely a statue of a deity.
"This feels a bit strange," Fairmont said to Leonard as he looked at the damaged bas-relief. "The fragments of Han Baiyu are basically distributed in and around this grand hall and the nearby buildings, and some are even hidden in the crevices of the stones."
