In Japan, there are quite a few top-notch swords, and one of them is the national treasure-class sword called the Grand Daito Kunitomo.
This sword was originally a family treasure of the Ashikaga family, who were the ruling shogunate during the Muromachi period. After the fall of the Muromachi Shogunate, Hideyoshi took it for himself, and later bestowed it upon Maeda Toshiie, a brave general.
According to historical records, someone once tested this sword on corpses, and the result showed that it can cut through two bodies stacked together with a single stroke.
In addition to this, the sword is also said to be capable of warding off evil. It is said to have once driven out a demon that possessed Maeda Toshiie's daughter, Haohime, and also eliminated abnormalities within Osaka Castle.
The Grand Daito Kunitomo's smith, Mitsuyoshi, forged more than one sword in his lifetime, but not many exist today. This has made them very valuable.
