Just as Leonard had guessed earlier, the people trying various tricks to obtain the spoils of war were not those present at the scene. Thus, their application for the excavation area was quickly approved.

As soon as the permit was obtained, Leonard, Fairmont, and Pierce set out with the workers towards the excavation target.

After entering the barracks, Pierce first arranged for the workers to excavate several buildings within the excavation area and then joined Leonard and others with the tools, heading directly towards the target oak tree.

The oak tree stood tall and straight, close to the center of the historic ruins, facing the main entrance of the commander's residence. Perhaps due to its dense foliage, there was only a thick layer of fallen leaves under the tree, with not many other plants growing there.

It was now around 9 a.m., and the golden sunlight poured through the gaps in the oak tree's crown onto the ground, creating a dreamlike scene.
