"What's happened, why are we leaving tonight?" Upon hearing Old Pierce's statement, Leonard and Pierce became tense immediately.
Forget about their original plan to leave after lunch tomorrow, just the tag of departure at midnight itself presents a certain risk.
After all, among them, the only person who can drive is Old Pierce, who is approaching 50. They have been busy all day, so from all perspectives, it's not very suitable to drive overnight.
"Eat first, let's talk while eating." Old Pierce divided the hamburgers and drinks in the plastic bag between Leonard and Pierce, while explaining what he had discovered in the German-style fast food restaurant.
As it turned out, after Old Pierce had left the warehouse area, he went straight to the nearest fast-food restaurant to buy some simple food. But unexpectedly, he spotted a bunch of right-wing extremists having dinner there.
These people are easily recognized in Germany, because in this country, only they would openly wear clothes with the WWII German spicy and crispy logo.
After noticing these troublesome fellows, Old Pierce naturally hid in a corner to avoid being discovered by them.
Luckily, these guys were enthusiastically discussing something while eating, and there were plenty of diners in the restaurant, so Old Pierce smoothly eavesdropped on these people's conversation.
"Those right-wingers have got wind of this auction event, so they're planning to set up checkpoints nearby to extort money," Old Pierce told the two young men who were eating.
"However, they also need time to gather their forces, so if we leave now, we should be able to break through the encirclement with our spoils of war."
Although these guys claimed they were just extorting money, given their notorious reputation, no one believed they would simply limit their activities to extortion rather than doing something more excessive.
Therefore, for Leonard and the others, in order to ensure their personal and property security, they had to do something to resolve this problem.
"Should we alert others?" After swallowing a mouthful of hamburger, Leonard asked Old Pierce.
"You can quietly inform the Balkan people in the warehouse ahead, but leave the others." Old Pierce said after a moment's thought.
"Because from their conversation, one can deduce that there is an informant among us, so to avoid alarming them, we better be cautious."
For Old Pierce, he himself believed in the attitude of being good to others and helping others when possible. So he was more than willing to lend a hand to others when he could.
Besides, informing others now has one advantage, which is that when they run, they would have others to share the firepower, which can greatly reduce the number of pursuers.
"Understood——" Leonard nodded. After the three of them had eaten dinner and rested for a while, he took advantage of the cover of night to quietly approach the three Balkans cleaning the warehouse, and informed them of the news.
"Thank you so much." The blonde young man leading the group thanked Leonard in unfluent German, then gave him his phone number and walkie-talkie frequency.
"We need half an hour to pack up. After half an hour, you decide when to leave, then give me a call, and we'll leave here together."
These people were a group of Slovenians, who had been doing the business of old cultural relics in Austria. When they heard about the warehouse auction here, they drove over from Austria in the south.
Obviously, they are also the targets of the German right-wing extremists. So when they heard that these people were about to attack them, they were willing to give up some of their profits to leave this dangerous area as soon as possible.
40 minutes later, Leonard and the others, who had dozed off for a while, got into the truck and called the Slovenians, then started the truck.
Quickly, two container trucks started moving and one after the other rapidly exited the warehouse district, plunging into the darkness.
This place was incredibly remote hence most of the street lamps on the roadside were broken. Still, Old Pierce kept speeding, as did the vehicle following him.
Both vehicles gradually accelerated on this dark street, soon surpassing 50 kilometers an hour.
This speed would be slow on a highway especially since most highways in Germany have no speed limit. However, on such rundown roads without lighting, their speed was quite high, even dangerously so.
"At this speed, we'll be out of the warehouse district and into the city center in just seven or eight minutes." After glancing at the speedometer, Leonard Ethan turned to Pierce and asked.
"Right, Pierce, where do you think those guys would choose to intercept us if they want to rob us?"
"It should be at the fork in the road about two kilometers away." Pierce, looking at the real-time updated electronic map on his mobile, replied nervously.
"Because once we pass that fork, we can go directly onto the highway. Once we mingle with the traffic on the highway, it will be difficult for them to find us."
"Therefore, they'll definitely set up a roadblock at that critical point, forcing us to stop. If we don't stop, they'll employ dangerous driving tactics on the highway to make us halt."
At this point, Leonard helplessly glanced at their vehicle. This is because in Germany, vehicles under 12 tons are exempt from tolls on the highway.
But the problem was that their truck clearly exceeded 12 tons, so they could easily be targeted while dealing with tolls at the toll booth.
The two kilometer distance passed in an instant and at the fork in the road, they sure enough saw two rare European pickup trucks blocking the road. There were also two people wearing blue coats waving red flashlights in their hands.
"Those guys are part of the New Crunch, not cops, so don't bother, just go." Leonard yelled into the car's walkie-talkie after recognizing that the men weren't police, and both trucks accelerated almost simultaneously, breaching the check-point.
"They're chasing us now----" Glancing at the rear-view mirror Pierce shouted. Indeed, after failing to stop Leonard and the others, the two pickup trucks were preparing to pursue them onto the highway.
"It seems we'll have to shake off those guys on the highway." Leonard muttered quietly to himself, secretly grateful that Germany, unlike China, did not have a comprehensive surveillance system in public places.
Without the surveillance, he figured his special abilities would be excellent for dealing with the current situation.
Shortly after, Leonard and his team came to halt at a highway toll station. Just as they were preparing to pay the toll, the two pickup trucks boldly passed through the toll station and parked a little further ahead at the waiting area.
"Should we call the police now?" After seeing the people in the two trucks roll down their windows and gesture rudely towards them, Pierce asked nervously.
"And then what?" Old Pierce gripped the steering wheel and said. "If we wait here, those right-wing extremists will definitely come to attack us. In doing so, not only we'll be in danger, but we could also endanger the toll workers."
"And if we leave, the situation won't be that different than it currently is. The police could only reach us after dealing with those guys."
"So what should we do?"
"Don't worry, it's not that bad," Leonard said seriously, "My sixth sense tells me that we won't face any danger next, and would safely get home."
