Before nightfall, Leonard and the others had covered more than 120 kilometers by boat, and checked out two destinations. However, neither of them turned out to be the location they were looking for.
The first one was on an outlying island only a few hundred meters from Newfoundland Island, but it was clear upon actual investigation that there was no fresh water on the island, making it impossible for humans to live there in the long term.
Although they found traces of human activities at the second location after a brief investigation, the fish hooks made of bones and spearheads made of stones indicated that they were left by the local natives.
In particular, after finding only a few pits that had once been used for fire and no traces of any permanent structures, Leonard was pretty certain that this location was just a temporary fishing camp used by the natives in the past.
