Chapter 19 - Goodbye, Green and Astringent Era 2

At that moment, the door of the black car opened, and a tall man stepped out. He had an air of elegance and indifference combined, which only one man in Metropolis could achieve – Arnold Johnson, standing right before her eyes.

He opened the car door for Victoria Garcia, then returned to the driver's seat.

Only when the car door closed did Alexander Mitchell, still rooted to the spot, fully realize that what Victoria had said was all true.

He doubled his pace and ran towards the car, shouting her name loudly, "Victoria... Victoria..."

Arnold glanced at Victoria but didn't start the car.

Victoria didn't look outside the window, only saying softly, "Drive."

After the car started, Alexander's panicked and anxious eyes were filled with fear and despair. He pounded on the window, only for the car to speed away.

He chased recklessly, regardless of his strength or the falling snow. When he fell, he got up again...

Victoria, how could you be so heartless!

Victoria... Victoria...

No matter how fast he ran, he couldn't keep up with the car. Eventually, it disappeared from his sight.

If Alexander had known that his rejection that night would result in such an outcome, he would have rather died than followed his mother's advice. Over time, he finally understood this lesson about life, which surfaced neither early nor late.

Inside the car, Victoria's gaze was fixed on the rearview mirror, watching Alexander's figure gradually disappear.

Goodbye!

Inside the car, the atmosphere was so quiet it felt oppressive, and Arnold didn't like the feeling.

"Do you need me to stop the car for you?" Arnold asked while driving.

Victoria replied, "If I said yes, would you stop?"

"No," Arnold replied simply.

It seemed that only he could answer so contradictory yet self-assured.

"I never realized that the great Mr. Johnson had such thick skin," Victoria couldn't help but tease him.

Arnold didn't mind and replied, "You found out a bit late."

What he meant was, getting on the boat was easy, but getting off? Not so much.

"Don't worry, my word is my bond," Victoria assured.

A slight smile unconsciously flashed across the corner of Arnold's mouth.

Of course, even if Victoria were to regret it later, as long as Arnold wanted her back, he had ways to make it happen.

"I will make your 'word is the bond' into two words: worthwhile," Arnold confidently replied.

Victoria looked at Arnold's profile as he drove, his prominent nose accentuating his calm and deep-set eyes, making him even more enigmatic.

She had to admit that, whether it was his side profile or front profile, there was nothing to pick at in Arnold's appearance.

Victoria gently closed her eyes, not expecting that she would eventually fall asleep in the car.

During these days, she was really exhausted and hardly had a good night's sleep.

The car was driven exceptionally smoothly, with the temperature and humidity adjusted just right. Arnold drove slowly in circles without any intention of waking her up.

Looking at her sleeping face, her lips pursed, still keeping people at a distance.

With a sleeping appearance like that, how insecure must her inner self be?
