Arnold Johnson said nothing still, realizing that letting Grand Lady Johnson vent might not be such a bad thing at this moment.
"Over the years, I have fulfilled virtually all of your demands, except for my personal matters of the heart which I have not conceded to you," Arnold stated calmly, "My feelings and my marriage are my own business, and I definitely will not allow anyone to interfere, not even if Dad and my older brother were alive; my stance is the same. This has nothing to do with my attitude towards you."
Grand Lady Johnson certainly understood some of it, but that did not stop her from detesting him.
"You know very well that what I wish the most is for you to marry Chloe, to fulfill her wish over these years and to compensate for the debt I owe her."
"I am not a tool for balancing the feelings between the two of you," Arnold said calmly.
He could agree to many things, but he could never consent to sacrifice his lifetime of emotions.
