Chereads / A Kitsunes' Ascent / Chapter 2 - Dreams

Chapter 2 - Dreams

Mei walked inside the weapon shop, and was greeted by the receptionist, "Welcome to Breeze Weapon Shop, how may I help you, ma'am?"

"Can I get some leather strips and a wooden handle for a dagger?" Mei said with a helpless smile.

"..."

"..."

"I'm SO SOR-"

-BAM!

The receptionist was shocked to find you Mei was a male and became scared fearing she angered him so she hurriedly tried to apologize to him but accidentally hit her head on the counter trying to bow.

Mei suppressed his laughter; walked to the counter and leaned forward as he stared at the receptionist, "Are you okay?"

The receptionist's face was red as she became shy, and flustered after her embarrassing moment along with Mei being so close to her face.

"Y...yes...yes! I... I'm sorry I didn't mean to mistake you for a girl." Her face was still red as she stuttered in the beginning.

Mei just waved his hand, "Don't worry your not the first, and you definitely won't be the last haha. So about the materials..."

"Ah! Yes, four silver but since I feel bad 2 silver is fine."

Mei smiled at her and took out four silvers, "Consider the other two as a tip then."

The receptionist nodded her head like a chicken and handed the materials to Mei carefully so as not to embrace herself any further.

He put everything in his pouch that was on his waist, the pouch wasn't ordinary as it held 30 cm of space due to magical properties.

"Thank you." After Mei put everything in the pouch he thanked her and left the store leaving the receptionist in a daze.

He walked back to the forest and stopped at a tree and took out the wolf fang he acquired from killing the wolf and crafted a dagger from it.

Once he finished the knife a transparent screen appeared before him.

[Wolfs' Fang Dagger]

[Rank: F]

[Skill/Effect: None]

[Dagger crafted by Tian Mei, Capable of various damages to F- to F+ Enimies]

Mei released a slight gasp as he wasn't aware weapons had a status screen, though that was natural due to little information about the Internal World made public to the world.

He examined the blade, as he flicked it within his hands to gain a feeling and comfort with the dagger. After playing with it for a while he entered the forest once more coming across more Horned Chickens and killing them gaining more exp.

"Grrrr~"

After killing another chicken, Mei heard another growl and found another Grey Wolf, but this one was older and bigger than the previous one.

Mei knew this Monster was probably an F to F+ rank but he hoped it was former to deal more damage with his dagger.

The wolf didn't wait and dashed to him, its speed was faster only allowing him to react at the last minute as he tried jumping back as the wolf slashed its paw at him.

- Slash!

Mei released a slight grunt dealing with the pain as he rolled back.

[Health: 65%/100% | Energy: 80%/100%]

Mei looked at his chest and saw a claw mark on his chest tearing his shirt and blood slowly seeking through it.

He looked up and saw the wolf mocking him with a sly grin on his face.

Mei's face turned ice-cold seeing the wolf mocking him as he tightened the grip on his right hand which was holding the dagger.

Mei stood up and reached in his pouch and pulled out a certain item and showed it to the wolf with a mocking smirk on his face.

"Can you guess what this is?" in his left hand a piece of skin from the baby wolf from earlier.

The wolf's face instantly lost its mocking smile as hatred can be seen on its face as it stared at the skin.

"Oh~ Maybe I accidentally killed your baby cub?" Mei released a chuckle enjoying the expression on the wolf's face.

The wolf's face distorted and dashed to him without hesitation wanting to tear him to shreds.

Mei didn't wait long and threw the skin to the wolf blocking its vision for a split second.

That split second was all Mei needed as he dodged to the right before turning his body to the right and plunging his dagger into the wolf's temple piercing the brain.

Due to the momentum of the wolf and the dagger being stuck in its skull it pulled Mei's arm aggrieving the cut on his chest more as Mei let go of the knife.

[+135 Exp][+10 Combat]

The wolf crashed on the ground as it rolled on the floor before it collided with a tree, and lay lifelessly on the floor.

Mei knew he couldn't rest just yet as he was still in the forest, and looked at the body and saw it didn't disappear making him sigh in relief.

[Level Up!]

[Please Select One Of The Following Skills!]

[Energy Control, Mana Control, Elemental Magic]

Looking at the three options Mei couldn't help but release a smile. Many knew about Kitsunes' but not many know how horrifying and destructive they can be, but Mei knew everything about them as when he was younger Mei went through mythology faze and stumble upon Kitsunes'.

Kitsunes' interested him as he was fascinated by them, and it became his favorite mythological monster.

As he looked at the three his face became serious thinking about each one.

'Energy Control is out of the question as I'm not interested in it as it could be considered the weakest to me. So it leaves Mana and Elemental on the table which depends on which path I choose to take..." Mei was in deep thought before a smirk appeared on his face and choose an option.

[Mana Has Been Unlocked In The Body!]

After picking Mana Control a flood of information entered his brain.

...

After looking at his stats a thought appeared in his head, 'Every level up increases every attribute by one?'

Ending his thoughts his mind lingered to the Mana attribute, he sat on the floor in a lotus position closing his eyes and calming his mind and his breath.

He easily felt his surroundings.

[+6 Mana][+8 Mana][+5 Mana][+7 Mana]

Mei forgot all about his surroundings and went into a meditative state for two minutes as his body was coated by a blue light almost like a shield, it grew brighter and brighter until it dispersed into particles disappearing.

[+10 Mana]

He stopped gathering mana as he felt exhausted, the second he stopped his comprehension of mana increased.

[Mana Control: 25/25 ➣ 10/50]

"That was... amazing but exhausting... though I already reached this stage...? That doesn't make sense though considering my potential is D-..." Mei mumbled as he remembered a few articles and interviews saying it took time to advance anywhere from three to two weeks.

'This is absurd though... some hunters said even with their A- potential it should take two or three days to advance. Maybe my potential is higher? Then why is it so low right now...' Mei tried going through different reasons and conspiracies but couldn't find a reasonable answer scratching the back of his head in frustration.

Until he finally found one that at least made sense to a certain extent, the answer he came up with was his bloodline as it also explained his class as an arcanist. There were only four classes that were made public; Warrior, Mage, Assassin, Summoner.

Though there was speculation of rare classes that no one talked about or hardly talked about, these rare classes were known as secret classes. Since Kitsunes were known for their illusions and magical superior abilities hence probably the reason he had the class arcanist and his absurd glitch-like talent.

Mei stopped his train of thoughts as he realized he was still in the forest and decided he should leave before any further complications arrived.

Standing up, he gazed at the sky and realized that the sun was setting; staring at the sky for a few seconds before shifting his gaze towards the wolf and walking towards it picking it up.

On the way back he gained even more surprised looks, and even more female admirers.

Entering the city once more as he sold the wolf to a butcher for one gold; then sold his materials to a merchant for fifty silvers.

"I think this is enough for today, I should go back already I'm pretty sure little Raven might be getting worried about me..." Mei said stretching his body as he exited a merchant shop.

[Would You Like To Leave The Internal World?]

Mei clicked yes and reappeared in his living room, unfortunately, he didn't have a second to relax as he felt the air get taken out of him as something crashed into him landing on the couch.

"Sob...sob... where... where were you?" an elegant yet seductive voice laced with sadness and worry resounded out of the room revealing it to be the thing that tackled Mei.

Mei released a sigh as he held the figure in his arms lovingly as stared at the ceiling with a smile on his face.

"Little Raven... my dream came true..."
