Chapter 48 - illusion

The sleeping Keira squinted as she felt someone muttering in her ear. The voice she heard was deep and slightly hoarse as if there was a long mystery behind those words.

Keira got up and scanned the room whether the owner of the voice was still there or not. but no matter how cautious she searched there was no one in the room.

'This is weird... I really heard a voice didn't I?' she groaning in annoyance as to why she didn't open her eyes sooner. While she was contemplating, She frowned knowing that no one dared to enter this forest, which make it unbelievable for a stranger to come here. Although she was confused by what had just happened. but because she couldn't find any trace of that voice made her think that she might have hallucination.

'Or maybe I'm really too tired' she told herself, closing her eyes to continue her sleeping.

soon later, Arel climbed up to the bedroom and sat next to the sleeping Keira while feeling guilty that he made her this exhausted. He then carefully carried her out of the bed and gently placed her in the bathtub.

After her body was bathed, Keira was awake by now but because she was too tired to do it by herself so she let Arel take care of it.

"I know you're awake Keira" he gently wiped her wet hair with a towel "and I prepared some soup for you.." he added knowing that she must be hungry.

Grinning widely. Finally, her day of hunger was coming to an end. She instantly leaped up and wrapped her arms around his neck "Let's go! I'm starving!"

He smiled softly upon seeing her sudden reaction and hold her to the dining table downstairs.

In the evening, Arel lay bed with Keira laying on his arm. he slowly moved his hand down to caress her tummy, frowning his brows as if examining something.

Not understanding his actions, so she raised her eyebrows "Is there something wrong with me?" she asked in confusion as to why Arel's face looked so serious.

He was silent for a moment before stroking Keira's hand "I want to have a cub with you.." he paused "But it seems to have no progressed" he replied in a disappointed tone. In fact, he knew dragons had a low reproductive rate and a complexity of breeding, but this was the first time in thousands of years that he wished to have a family.

Keira observed his thoughtful expression and slowly cupped his cheeks to comfort him. She knew that When it came to Arel's strength, having a cub was not a problem at all

"When it's time, the little one will come" She gently smiled, giving Arel some peace of mind to stop stressing. She also wanted to have a cub with him. Though, she was self-conscious about her body, would it be alright to conceive a baby dragon in her human physics? But she trusted Arel that he would do whatever it takes to keep her and her baby safe.

On the next day, after having breakfast and Arel went out hunting.

Keira was alone so she went down to explore the vegetable field to see if there was anything to harvest.

The air was shady with a cool breeze gently blowing through Keira's long ebony hair. How pleasant the weather was, blended with the sound of the forest and the birds chirping echoed with those colorful flowers of the meadow blooming to show off their beauty.

"Ahh the weather is nice today" she took a deep breath of fresh air and then glanced at the vegetable field that was filled with various plants.

Seeing there were many crops ready to harvest, she brought out a basket and fill it with all the crops, and carried the basket back to the treehouse.

While Keira was walking, she felt as though she was being watched by someone. but when she peeked around, she couldn't find any figure.

This caused Keira to suspect that something was indeed strange. 'what now? Am I hallucinating again heh?' she thought as she shook her head at her own ambiguity.

'Huh...' A stranger's voice sounded. She scanned around once more in search of that voice.

Then she shut her eyes and took a deep breath to cool down 'Is something wrong with my brain or what?' Not only did she feel like someone was watching her, she also heard strange noises.

Keira quickly rushed back to the treehouse and puts down the basket. What she harvested were cabbage, onions, carrots, and broccoli. So she has decided to make vegetables stir-fry for today's dinner.

she washed them and sliced everything before putting them in the pot and lit the fire prepared for cooking.

While Keira was filling up the firewood, she accidentally got a slight burn on her finger. "Awh!" She hurriedly pulled her hand back.

"Shh...Why are you so dumb" A mysterious voice muttered from nowhere, causing Keira to inspect around suspiciously.

'where? who?.. who said I was dumb? This is insulting!' how this voice called her dumb was clear in her ears proving that she didn't imagine things. There must be someone messing with her.
