Jacob looked at his father wide-eyed. Is that what he's been thinking all along? Indeed, he wasn't particularly open but it's only because he knew what his mother did to him early on and he felt like he was a constant reminder of that.
Jacob said:
"I never blamed you for leaving, even if I was young I understood. I just felt that seeing me every day would only make you feel worst because of what my mother did to you. I kept thinking what if he sees him in me?"
Damian frowned, he should've been the adult and talked to him but he let a kid think that way. He closed his eyes for a few seconds.
He thought that staying away and only connecting when it came to working was the best way but he was wrong.
Damian stood up and knelt in front of him. He held his face and said:
"Do you know that after what happened the first time I felt love again for someone was when I saw you?"
Jacob looked at his father shocked and his eyes moistened.
