Jade and I were silent inside the taxi as we rode back to our hotel. She sat away from me, on the other side of the seat.
I let her be.
When we came to the hotel, I followed her into her room.
"You should rest," she told me as she took her seat in the living room.
"No. I'm fine."
I took a seat beside her.
"I think it's a good thing that your father doesn't want to give you away even with a reason you don't like."
"You finally met him."
"Uh hm. I did."
"He's worse than me."
"Yeah."
"And you had to experience his vileness first hand because I insisted on coming there."
"It's okay Jade. I'm glad because meeting him made me understand you better."
"What do you mean?"
"You had to live with the man for years. I understand that you got some of his.. err unlikeness."
She laughed dryly.
