Chereads / Sea of Tears / Chapter 4 - The Risk of The Lake

Chapter 4 - The Risk of The Lake

"I hope Sky Dragon's right," he talked to himself.

Wyrm is a Gundanesse, an ancient language of the Ragna Empire, word for Dragon. After three nights of stuffing his stomach with herbs and mushrooms, chased down by a wild boar, a hunter cat, and an Ocstalus, two-legged creature that poison its prey and walk behind its game until they can't walk, then swallow it nice and slow, Sabathran arrived in the Unkown Man's Land.

This land is the definition of a desert, but with dry trees, cold wind, and red clouds even though the sun was still straight at the top of Sabathran's head.

Sabathran can't wait as he did back there in Navarn Steppe, he shouted and called Nithywr, Ancient Dragon of Ecstacy.

"Grand Lord Nithywr! Please help my mother to live!" he shouted.

Earth then trembled. Sabathran's feet felt the trembling as he tried to endure the shake. After a while, the shaking stopped. Silence enveloped the surrounding environment for a second, and it made Sabathran's guard go off.

Suddenly, a creature burst out of the ground, precisely in front of Sabathran.

"Haaah!" Sabathran was shocked by the creature.

"for what reasoneth hasn't thee hath called us?! Thee bother me in mine own sorrowful catch but a wink!"

He is Nithywr. The Dragon Sabathran seek out. He has no wings, but he has many legs to crawl underground. He has no face but is full of the hole of a mouth. You will look at him like a giant worm that spits poison fluids.

"I am sorry, Great Lord Nithywr! But I need your tear to cure my mother's Black Blood!"

"Doth thee seeth yond I doth hasn't coequal one of an eye?! How couldst I giveth thee teareth yond I can hasn't?! And thee human disgust me with thy waging of endless war, it gaveth me sorrow, pain, yond coequal I, one of the deities, can not endureth! Leaveth this lodging, or I shall killeth thee even but now!"

Sabathia can't help but feel the air of killing intent, and this Dragon was not joking.

"But the war has ended long ago! We are in peace!" Sabathran is still trying.

"Leaveth but even now!" Nithywr burst out of the ground, exposing his body completely, then, with his tail, he swept the floor and struck Sabathran with it.

"Gah!" Sabathran flew off the ground at a very high altitude, then he ended up in the river, unconscious.

The river then brings him to a big lake. If you want to compare the size, it must be around five times the international soccer field's size. And when Sabathran woke up consciously, he was startled to realize that he was on the lakeside, with water touching his legs wet.

"Where am I? Ugh, my head," Sabathran held his head. It felt numb.

"Is this a lake?"

"Yes."

Someone answered Sabathran, startled. He turned his head to every corner of his vicinity, but that someone was nowhere to be found.

"Who, I mean, where are you?" Sabathran tried to stand up, but his leg couldn't keep it up. It seems like there was a fracture.

"Ouch," Sabathran then keep sitting on the ground.

"I am under the water," repeated the voice.

"A sorcerer? Witch?"

"Deity."

The water in the lake suddenly made a whirlpool, then after a short while, a dark blue dragon emerged from the lake. Unlike the other dragons with a fierce look on their faces, this One has a calming face. His golden thorned horns glow dimly, yet his yellowish eyes spark flames.

"Be-beautiful," Sabathran stunned.

"Had not heard that Kind of flattery since the millennium. So, after that flattery, what do you want to have come here, Young One?" he asked.

"My mother has been sick by Black Blood. Her cause isn't long enough until the next full moon. I wish for a drop of your tear to cure my mother's Black Blood," Sabathran lowered his head.

"Ooh, that plague isn't eradicated yet, is it? The last person also came to me for Black Blood, her brother cured, yes. But she has to pay the price."

"And what is the price?"

"Your life."

Sabathran widened his eyes in disbelief, then he asked the Dragon, "My life?"

"A life for a life. Do you value yourself over your mother?"

Sabathran couldn't answer. It was too heavy to decide on the spot.

"If you don't want, I will return to my abode in the bottom of this Mariela Lake."

Sabathran aghast, "Wait! Stop! Take my life! I will do everything! Just give me the tear!"

Desperation, hopelessness, and distraught, these things messed up Sabathran's mind, and the Dragon knew it, so he used it against Sabathran.

"Very well, Human," the Dragon then closed his eyes, then a crystal formed below his left eye.

"This is my tear in as a crystal. Tell your mother to swallow it, and come back here to pay for your mother's salvation."

The crystal tear then floated to Sabathran's hand. Then he held it as if it was a diamond, no, more than a mere diamond.

"But, I don't know where this is, so I don't know my way back to home," said Sabathran.

"Do not worry."

The Dragon then sighed cold breath. It felt so hard that Sabathran's body felt like turning into a chunk of ice. Then, in the blink of an eye, Sabathran stands next to his mother in their house.

"Hah? When did you come, Thran?" Lucia, who was feeding Rahmiel, was startled by Sabathran's sudden arrival.

"There is no time to explain. Mother, swallow this."

"Wha, what is this, Son?" Rahmiel asked.

"A dragon gave it to me. It is Dragon's Tear."

"What? It should be worth more than 500 golds."

"Swallow it, Mother."

Sabathran then feeds the Dragon's Tear to Rahmiel. She then swallowed it. She had no choice to say no.

"Aaaarhh! Haah!"

"Wha-what happened?"

"My body!"

Rahmiel's body slowly returned its colour to normal. The black colour slowly disappeared, and when Rahmiel was fully cured, she cried.

"I-I am cured! Huu, huu, I, I can't believe this."

"Finally, Mother! You are healthy! Finally!" Sabathran cried.

"I'm glad! Huaa," Lucia hugged Rahmiel.

"This is all thanks to you, Sabathran, my son. Thank you," said Rahmiel.

"Yes, Mother," Sabathran slowly walked to Rahmiel to hug her.

When his finger nearly touched Rahmiel, Sabathran suddenly backs to the lake.

"What? Where am I?"
