The sun crept on Stan's bed sheets, it shone upon his face as he lifted his eyelids open, he shielded his eyes from the light. He got up from the bed sleepily, and got up to get ready for his date with his official girlfriend, Anne. He briskly brushed his teeth making sure to clean every corner of his mouth. He took a bath and debated if he should wear something formal or something casual, but knowing Anne, he knew that if he wore something formal, she would just make a laughing stock out of him. So he decided to wear a white shirt, light coloured polo, sling bag, pants and sneakers. Which is what he thinks most boys wear for their first dates.
He walks to Anne's house to pick her up, he gets to her doorstep and knocks. Her dad opens the door and greets him with a smile and a hug, from behind him he can see Anne getting ready and was being swarmed by her mom and her older sister trying to help her get ready, by applying make up on her. She was able to get them off her and started to walk towards the door where Stan was waiting for her, holding a bouquet of roses.
"Sorry for the wait, I never went on a date yet so I asked mom for advice, and that clearly backfired." Anne chuckled while wiping imaginary dirt off of her sleeves and skirt.
Stan didn't say a word, he just stood there, mesmerised, amazed at the sight of her. She looked amazing in her casual dress with a jean jacket on top. Her short brownish-black hair with a beanie on top, glistened in the morning sun, Stan couldn't help but smile, but tried not to show it. He stood there unable to move until he finally handed her the roses he bought for her.
"Oh, for me? Well, thank you." Anne said while sniffing the roses.
"Oh, y-yeah of course. Wow, you look amazing." Stan said after snapping back to reality.
"Ya think?"
"Yeah."
Nothing was further said after that, and they decided to start walking to the venue. While walking, Anne held Stan's hand for the first time. Stan suddenly jolted but kept his hand intertwined with her's, Stan's embarrassment was visible, as his face was as red as the roses he gave her and his hand was sweating buckets. Seeing this, Anne couldn't help but laugh, and Stan tried to act tough by hiding the embarrassment. Seeing how embarrassed Stan was, Anne wrapped her hand into Stan's arm, which in turn made Stan even more embarrassed, this amused her even more. They get to the venue, sit by the window, and order their feast.
....
A few days prior, Kate and Isaac decide to have a small study date at the new cafe that just recently opened, so they get to the venue and order, and start studying. Kate was seated facing the door. The door opens and unconsciously, she looked at the door hoping to find someone she knew, which she did, but not the ones she was hoping for.
"Well, if it isn't our daughter Kate." A man says. Kate looks up to see her father and mother.
"Oh, Dad, I thought you guys were on a business trip." Kate nervously says.
Her dad sat opposite from the couple. "Well, apparently it was postponed, due to the holiday of such." Isaac sensed the tension, and got up to leave, but the old rich man gestured him to stay.
"You haven't introduced him to us Kate, why don't you do that now?" Thorne Muerni prompted.
"Mom, Dad, this is Isaac, my current boyfriend." Said Kate, Isaac waved his hands nervously as a disguise, from his frustration.
"Boyfriend?? You never told us you had a BOYFRIEND." He said while sinking deeper into the chair he was sitting on. "I always thought if you would ever have a boyfriend it would be that boy you always hang out with. What's his name again?" He said while trying to remember. "Ah, yes Stan. You two always hung out together." He remarked.
"Dad!" Kate exclaimed.
"What? I'm not wrong am I? I mean, Stan is a gentleman. And let me tell you Isaac, back in the day, he was all she would talk about." Her dad scoffed.
Before she was able to retaliate, her dad spoke once more. "Speak of the devil, there he is." He said while looking out the window.
"What, where?" said Kate while turning her head. As she turned her head she saw two figures, their arms intertwined with one another, laughing and generally, just having the time of their lives. Kate's heart sank, her eyes, widened. Why was she feeling this way? Hadn't she already moved on? But there was something about seeing them together made her sick to her stomach.
Kate's dad broke the silence. "Who's that girl he's with? Girlfriend? Wait a moment, isn't that Anne?" Kate turned her head back to her parents as he finished the sentence, and their conversation began.
....
Anne and Stan both sat at the same seat together, facing Kate and Isaac. Miraculously, Stan didn't notice them, and was more focused on Anne. But Anne noticed Kate earlier on, but decided not to mind them after all, Kate hasn't even noticed. As they received their coffees, Anne decided to turn her head towards Kate, to check if they moved spots at least or left, but she was met with Kate's cold stare. They both held eye contact for a hot minute, and Kate finally broke eye contact and went on her phone and seemed like she was texting.
"What are you looking at?" Stan asked, while trying to look pass Anne's head. She struggled to block his view from Kate, but Stan was still able to look passed her.
"Isn't that Kate?" Said Stan as he was able to take a peek. Anne sighed in defeat as she agreed. She thought that Stan would say hi or greet them, which would ruin their date, but despite what Anne thought, he didn't go near them and simply continued the conversation with Anne.
While they were both talking and laughing, Anne's phone started to be bombarded with messages. She checked them, and it was all from Kate.
"Meet me at the bathroom NOW." the messages read.
"I'm gonna use the restroom." Said Anne.
"Oh ok, don't take long, your food will get cold." Remarked Stan.
"I know." Anne said while disappearing into the women's room.
"What do want? You're interfering with something." Anne said coldly.
Kate replied with a question "Are you two together? You and Stan?"
"W-What do you mean? No we're not." Anne replied defensively.
"You can drop the act, I heard Stan's confession yesterday."
Anne's embarrassment turned to anger "Y-You were eavesdropping?"
Kate ignored the question. "Just answer the question."
"Yes. So what if we are dating? How does it affect you?" Anne mumbled.
"Nothing." Kate answered with a hollow voice.
"Then I better get back to Stan." Anne said walking briskly to the door.
"How did you do it?" Kate questioned.
"What do you mean?" Anne said while turning around.
"How did Stan fall for you in such a short time. He confessed to me just 2 months ago. What did you do to get him to like you?" Kate said almost shouting.
"I don't know." Said Anne.
"Nonsense! It's Impossible for him to fall for you instantly!" Kate exclaimed.
"Trust me Kate, I'm as shocked as you are right now. And why do you even care in the first place?"
Kate opened her mouth to retaliate, but no words came out. She knew what she wanted to say, but she couldn't. It was like she lost her voice, as if her vocal cords were non-existent. There was a brief silence before Anne decided to leave. She said her goodbyes as she left the restroom, leaving a lifeless shell of the person she used to call her friend. The two of them acted as if nothing happened, and things went amazing with Anne and Stan. Considering the fact that they both clicked early on. The clock read 2:56, and they decided that they should head home. Stan escorted Anne to her house as usual.
"Well, here's my stop." Said Anne while turning to face Stan.
"Well, obviously." Stan teased.
"Thanks, for today. I'm glad it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be." Anne chuckled.
"Yeah of course." They both stood in silence as they both looked at each other awkwardly, not knowing how to say goodbye.
"I-I should get going." Stan chuckled awkwardly.
"Y-Yeah. Bye." Anne said bluntly.
As Stan started walking away, he felt a hand pulling his shoulder, it was Anne, not surprising. She quickly leaned in for a kiss. After what happened, Anne simply said bye, and Stan returned it with a surprised smile and a wave. The two parted ways as they both smiled ear to ear from what just happened that day.
