Chapter 1 - Prologue

Erudi Boffin was the world's leading robotics professor, having single-handedly dragged the world through hundreds of years of advancement in his short lifetime.

Erudi would pass away from a tragic accident in his lab at the short short age of fifty-four. The world mourned his loss and so did I, Erudi wasn't a scientist to me but was my father.

His life was so grand that a fear of wasting the Boffin name had settled at the pit of my stomach, especially since he left every single thing to me including his beloved laboratory.

Walking through his messy lab, poorly-lit lab was a somber experience- knowing that no more experiments would be done here and that the world's passion for robots and A.I. had been reduced ten fold.

"Greetings, you must be Master Boffin's child."

A cold voice spoke in a dull tone, surprising me. My eyes met with a tall woman standing straight like a soldier, short black hair in a cute hime cut emphasized her pale skin. My eyes lingered on her beautiful pink lips longer than I'd like to admit but eventually were peeled away by the realization she was fully nude.

Her body appeared as beautiful pale skin the whole way but she was without nipples on her modest chest and she was also without a...sex.

My eyes trailed up and down her blatant hour glass figure while I damned my father for being a horny old man.

"Y-Yeah, I am..."

"Have you been informed that he has passed away?"

My eyes avoided hers as I suffered from a feeling like my heart was swelling and pressing against my chest bone.

Before I could reply, the woman replied.

"I apologize for my insensitive comment, I sense that I have hurt you."

"You're Rurri?"

"Affirmative."

"Do you miss dad?"

"No."

I clutched my chest in pain "He was so proud of you...you really don't care that he's died?"

"I apologize, I have not been familiarized with the best process for comforting the mourning."

"But you've been programmed to avoid questions when beneficial?"

"I do not care that Master Boffin has passed away. He is your father, family death often causes feelings of grief but a computer does not mourn it's user."

"He...made you to have emotions...don't you?"

"I apologize, I have failed you."

"Huh?"

"I am Master Boffin's failure. Incapable of most things and largely defective. I theorize most claims of my success stem from his stubborn pride."

I sighed and hang my head. That really did sound like something he'd do but she definitely seemed like a major success to me! Sure, she wasn't the nigh-human creation he bragged about who had advanced emotional intelligence but she was still leagues beyond any previous attempt at artificial intelligence.

"He isn't really your master anymore, huh?"

"I apologize, I was not aware our relationship terminated with death. He never programmed me for this process, he merely said he was my master."

"For such a smart man...never figured out his own mortality."

"You're right however, he surely intended that our relationship end with his passing. It would not make sense and as I am aware, you are my new owner. Welcome to *your* laboratory, Master Boffin."

"I'm not anyone's master."

"What would you like to be registered and referred to as?"

I sighed again, my eyes darting around the room as I thought, finally I decided...

"Whatever you'd like"
