Chapter 12 - 12. A bitter victory

Last on 'My Uncles Cabin (Alone):

"I-I don't understand. How did it find us?"

"It must've followed the trail of blood"

*

...Her eyes widened at what she saw. A stream of light from the moon was streaming into the trailer and that could only mean one thing.

The beast was breaking through.

Continue

Tora swiftly stood up and began to search desperetly for any sort of weapon. Anything. Even a knife would be useful.

She began to wish she had never left the wrench at that house and cursed at her naivety. She should have known they weren't in the clear.

She should have known.

The grating and clanging of the metal breaking began to get louder and Tora began to panick.

Then she heard a loud terror filled scream.

She turned around and saw the monsters large and hairy paws, clawing after Janette.

She felt as if the blood drained from her entire body as she could do nothing but watch as the monster grabbed Janette by the foot.

She was scratching and clawing at the beast trying to get away.

Screaming and crying in abject terror. Her eyes wide and red with panic. Her skin deathly pale. As white as a ghost with tinges of blue.

"Tooorrraaaaaàaa!!!!!"", she screamed so loud it could have shook the trailer.

Tora snapped out of her trance. Rushing to Janette and grabbing her hands, pulling.

From where she was she could see the beasts sharp teeth. Drool running down its hideous mouth as if it couldn't wait to rip them both to shreds.

Janette looked at Tora and that look of absolute fear and acceptance made Tora burst into tears, screaming Janette's name as she was forcefully pulled from Tora's hands.

Tora watched in absolute horror. Eyes wide and screaming in fear as the beast shook Janette like a rag doll. It opened its huge jaws and dropped her in its mouth.

Tora could here the faint sound of bone crunching and crushing under its teeth.

Janettes bones.

The blood flow from the open corners of its mouth. One of Janettes arms falling threw that loose gap.

Tora went from ghostly white to a sickening form of grey as she threw up. Hacking and crying as the visual of that horror replayed in her mind.

She heard the beast growl unsatisfied and her eyes widened.

It was her turn. Her time to die in the most gruesome way her eyes had ever seen.

She slowly turned around, tears flowing freely down her eyes as reality seemed to leave her behind.

The monster placed its large paws on the sides of the open metal roof and slowly inched forward.

Tora began to slowly inch back. Her body fighting for a life that her spirit had long abandoned.

What was the point?

Why was she fighting for so long?

What for?

If she was going to die anyway, maybe she should have just taken her own life. Died in a way she choose instead of a way she didn't want to.

Her foot hit something and she glanced down.

It was a steel metal, rusted and chipped and seemed split in two but big enough to maybe defend with.

The monster made another unsatisfied growl. Roaring in a way Tora could now identify as hunger.

She jumped and tripped over her feet, falling onto her bottom. The tears continued to flow down her eyes and instead of praying to some God that didn't grant her her wish, she fortified her resolve.

If she had to die, if this was where she was going to die, she would die fighting. She would die fighting for her life because that was what she choosed.

The monster crawled forward. Growling ever so often. The trailer rumbled and echoed the sound. Sounding so menancing and ominous that Tora began to tremble.

She stared the monster in its eyes, her fear still real but her resolve firm. Her hands' searched for the steel and once found, grasped it with such strenght she was afraid her fingers would break before anything else.

The monster pounced.

Tora screamed.

Then a defeaning quiet was all that was heard.

Shattered by the sound of a huge thud.

A sob of relief escaped Tora's mouth as she opened her eyes.

The monster fell on its side. The steel shoved through its mouth.

It was a gruesome sight.

Its eyes was rolled back, showing only white; slime seemed to seep from its open mouth. Sizzling as it touched the metal floor of the trailer. The scent ransid as it filtered the air.

Tora took sharp gasps of air.

Trying to slow down her erratic breathing. She had just escaped death. And the shock of it had her trembling down to the core. Her fingers twitched irratically, and she could not fight that ickling sense of dread that the beast would raise again. Just to devour her.

But she had nothing more to fear. For the beast was indeed dead.

Its last gulps of air taken the moment it opened its putrid jaws.

After a few minutes of nothing happening, Tora slumped against the trailer in relief. Bracing her back against the trailer.

Her gut turned with she interpreted as revulsion. For the scent of the beast was truly horrid. Her body began to feel cold and a sigh left her breath, forming into white mist.

Her slumped form trembled and she rubbed her hands on her arms, trying to control her shivering, oblivious to the sudden drop in temperature.

Goosebumps took over her skin and the hair on her neck stood up. She had the sudden feeling that something was wrong, but looking around, she saw nothing out of place.

Janettes hand was on the floor, a little ways away from the dead beast that ate her. But still she couldn't get over feeling like something was wrong. She once again looked around, and everything is as it was before.

The eyes can decieve.

Her eyes widened when she recalled the voice she heard earlier. Telling her the eyes can decieve. She still couldn't remember where she heard it but she grasped the meaning.

She might not be able to discern it, but she was still in danger.

She looked around more frantically, her breath coming out in sharp deep bursts and her heart beating out of control.

She could sense the danger; she could sense it.

But where--?

"To~ra. Come to mother Tora".

Tora heard a voice she wish she hadn't. Her fear became palpable and her eyes widen in absolute trepidation; Her form frozen stiff. Her breaths became erratic and the moment she looked up and saw that vile creature once known as her mother swiftly approaching her through the break in the roof....

She screamed.

------!------!------!------!
