Chapter 1 - Harder...

Tap tap tap...

Water splashed in various direction as a long leg kept drumming on the rain poodle.

Standing in front of a bus station was a young girl, her entire face covered by an umbrella, hands stretched into the rain as she kept tapping on the floor.

"Fighting against tyranny,

I'll never learn to be obedient..."

The new yet popular song, "Against Me", by super diva, Angel, blasted through the girl's earphones.

As the bus stopped before her, she entered it, carefully folding her umbrella before entering.

Sitting by the window, she brought out a sketch book and continued drawing. If one looked closely, the characters were the same as the one in a very popular manga, Underworld, inspired by an extremely popular Kpop band.

She hummed softly, then stopped abruptly, her eyes flashing as she ran towards the bus driver.

"Stop, I want to alight." She said in a calm voice and did not wait for an answer before jumping off the bus. Landing fluidly on her feet, there were gasps heard in the bus.

Afterall, it wasn't everyday people jumped off moving vehicles.

Turning immediately, she ran after a man who was clutching his jacket and running fast. Throwing her bag at his knee, he fell on the floor reflexively.

She jumped at him, twisted his arm and yanked a baby off him.

She was fast, but he was faster. Grabbing her by the neck, he slammed her against the streetlights.

As she was being choked, she didn't struggle but even revealed a strange, small smile.

"Harder..." She stared deep into his eyes.

"I'll kill you!" He roared, choking her harder but was pulled off by a man and slammed onto the ground. Soon, the sirens were heard and the trafficker was taken away.

"Hand him over." Her 'saviour' said, staring at her.

She scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"I'm Lu Sicheng. That is my nephew, we went shopping when he was taken away." Lu Sicheng explained to the young girl. He didn't mind her rude behavior since she had saved Lu Boyan.

However, he was taken aback when he saw her face for she was stunning. Beautiful, was an understatement.

The rain had stopped, but, it was still drizzling.

Lu Sicheng stared at the nonchalant girl. She was good looking, rain droplets running down her smooth skin, red lips and full eyebrows, making her look more beautiful.

Yet, what made him stunned the most was her cold, lifeless eyes. He couldn't see one trace of emotion in it, therefore he wasn't able to tell what she was thinking, which made him uncomfortable.

"You're the incompetent uncle?" The girl finally responded.

Soon the bus she alighted from, passed and the people in it cheered for her.

Lu Sicheng raised an eyebrow, bewildered.

"Lu Boyan!" A shaky voice called and a woman ran towards them. Shakily, she examined the small boy in the girl's arms.

"My baby...my.." The old woman was incoherent, as she checked the boy's arms and legs.

The girl stepped back, watching her in disdain.

"Ma'am, you..."

"She's the one who saved Lu Boyan." Lu Sicheng replied calmly, staring at the defiant, unruly looking girl.

She looked beautiful yet wild, cold yet crazy. She looked like someone who would kill whilst smiling. Of course, that didn't matter. She was a good person, afterall.

"You want the boy?" She said slowly, resting on the streetlight she was choked against.

"We...uh?" Madam Lu stared dumbfoundedly. What did she mean? Of course, they wanted him back!

However, Lu Sicheng was not bothered as he replied,

"Yes."

"Proof."

This time, Lu Sicheng and Madam Lu were both stunned. They never believed a day like this would come.

Not getting the answer she received, the girl turned, gingerly picked her bag and umbrella and began to walk away.

It didn't take long for Lu Sicheng to snap out of his daze and chase after her, blocking her path.

"Ma'am, where are you taking him to?" He asked, not knowing her name.

"The police station." The girl's reply was short and calm as she turned away and followed another path.

She hailed down a cab and entered before he could say anything.

This was the first time in Lu Sicheng's life, he had been surprised many times in a row.

He shouted at his subordinates to get his car and follow them. Madam Lu entered the car, still shaken up badly.

She had gone shopping with her quiet, cute grandson but had not expected him to be abducted! She was so scared, she could only drag her old body and chase after her son and the kidnapper.

In the taxi, the girl stared at the quiet Lu Boyan. She didn't hate him, because he didn't cry. She hated kids that cried. In fact, she hated people that cried. Why? She couldn't seem to understand why they did.

As they got to the police station, she got down, paid the cab driver and walked away.

The driver shook his head. Throughout the journey, for some reason, he couldn't breathe comfortably.

That girl, she, she was something else.

~

"Ma'am, what are your complaints."

"Complain, just one." The girl replied as she sat down comfortably, unruffled by the police's stare.

"This..." She pointed at Lu Boyan.

"Lost but found."

That was the first thing Lu Sicheng and Madam Lu heard when they entered the station. Madam Lu staggered, almost falling down but Lu Sicheng was fast enough to steady her.

"Oh, where did you find him?" The tone of the police became more amicable.

"He, he's my grandson." Madam Lu quickly said and walked briskly to the police man's desk.

"Oh Madam Lu, President Lu." The police immediately recognized them and bowed repeatedly.

The girl raised her eyebrows askance. She looked away, not saying a word.

"This is...Oh, Young Master Lu!" The police exclaimed, looking at the very thin boy laying comfortably in the girl's arms, clutching her jacket.

Lu Boyan was just a five year old boy, yet because of the prowess and strength of the Lu corporation, he was called Young Master Lu.

"Miss, thank you so much for your help. Without you, we might not have gotten him." Madam Lu said, in a very friendly tone.

"No need to thank me." The girl replied and stared at Lu Sicheng for a brief moment before looking away.

Everything became awkward the next moment. The police man stared at the Lus who stared at the girl who stared at the baby who stared at the police man and the cycle continued.

"Err... Ma'am, you should hand over the baby." The police man said awkwardly after a couple of minutes.

"Proof of ownership." The girl stated again in a condescending tone as though reminding him his job.

"Ahh? Oh.." The police man replied, eyes wide open as he did not dare to breathe. Of course, he couldn't ask them for proof of ownership!

The Lus were like royalty in the Czetch Republic. Who does this girl think she is?! Moreso, they were on the news daily, everybody knew them.  Well, everyone except her.

Lu Sicheng had already noted the girl's attitude and whilst on the way had ordered his buddy to bring the documents along.

Afterall, they couldn't snatch Lu Boyan off her hands. In fact, Lu Boyan didn't seem willing as he held the girl's jacket tightly, and closed his eyes, seeming indifferent.

Simp!!

Lu Sicheng's disdainful stare was directed at the small boy whose face was buried in the girl's bosom.

After some minutes of awkward silence, Han Ximing ran in, trying to catch his breath.

"Here..." He handed the documents in his hands to Lu Sicheng still trying to catch his breath.

Lu Sicheng turned and calmly placed the documents in front of the girl.

After carefully checking the birth certificate and pictures presented and confirming they were related, she handed Lu Boyan to Lu Sicheng.

Calmly, she stood up, picked her bag, about to walk away, not caring about the dumbfounded gazes behind her.

Madam Lu was faster as she held her back.

The girl calmly pulled out her hand.

"I...thank you, thank you so much miss. You are basically our life savior. We, I am really grateful. Miss, is there any way we can show our gratitude?"

"No need." The girl replied, seeming irritated as she turned again and was about to leave.

"What a good woman." Han Ximing said, staring at the back of the pretty lady. He was just told how she had jumped off a bus to save his darling prince.

As the girl was leaving, she heard Han Ximing comment.

She turned abruptly.

"I'm not a good woman." She said, her lifeless eyes staring at Han Ximing. It was choking. It felt like he was in a horror movie, being pinned down by the devil's gaze. It was...too intense.

"You..." Han Ximing was not expecting that kind of reply. In fact, he had not expected her to hear at all as he had whispered whilst bumping shoulders with Lu Sicheng.

"But you saved the boy..." He muttered, still confused.

The girl was very beautiful, even though her red plump lips were purses in distaste, it could still trigger so many emotions from people. Why was it that the words that came out of those lips and her tone of delivering those words, seemed chilling.

Nonetheless, Lu Sicheng raised his head to stare at her. She didn't seem like someone who would go around saving people, hence, he wanted to hear the reason she did that.

"That's because he didn't cry." The girl retorted and turned again.

"Young Miss, what's your name?" Lu Sicheng asked before she could walk out.

"Lin Jiayi." The girl's distant voice was heard.
