Chapter 4 - Ambush in the Sky (3)

The captian stared at the armored man, fear and anger flashing in his eyes. He could do nothing to defend his ship and crew. He shifted his gaze at his single deck-hand, their eyes met. The sailors face was pale, a look of dread in his eyes. The captian closed his eyes and clenched his fists, wondering why these men had decided to attack a small airship such as his.

He opened them again and looked over to his passenger, his eyes widened when he saw the woman's expression and defensive stance she had taken. He narrowed his eyes at the girl, could it be because... of her?

She was just young lass, not even in her twenties by the look of her. Yet she had an air of importance around her. He knew she was traveling to Selphia for just a bit more then sight-seein' but he had kept his thoughts to himself. She'd already looked like she carried the world on her shoulders, her eyes had a burning fire in them. A look he had seen in those who had something to protect and do. The captian darted his gaze back to the armored men.

The man on the right with the longsword had shifted and pointed the blade at the girl. It looked like he was about to get the answers sooner than he thought...

...

Th girl stared held the gaze with the longsword wielding man, she put on a brave face but inside she an icy fear grip her. She grit her teeth and ignored the feeling, she had trained for scenerios just like this. The armored thug, brought the tip of the longswords cold blade to her chin. A chill passed down her spine, but she kept her composure. "Girl, we know you have it. The object of power your going to give to the Native Dragon!" Her eyes widened at the man's demand. The thug grinned cruely at her expression.

The man's words echoed across the ship, it took a few seconds for them to register to the rest. The captian turned sharply to her, a look of burning curiosity and shock on his face. The girl's expression shifted from one of shock to anger quickly. She glared at the man. "H-how do you know about that!?" she asked with a shaky tone.

The man lowered his longsword and stepped back, he turned his and grinned smugly at his partner in crime. The other armored man raised his sword and rested the blade on his shoulder again.

He chuckled darkly and raised his free hand in the air a little. "Well, you'd be surprised at what a little research can turn up." The girl clenched her fists, her muscles tensing. The captian broke the silence that had fallen over the deck after a few seconds. His eyes darted between the men and girl. "How could you possibly...!? ...Who are you you?" The girl glanced over to the captain but remained silent to his qeustions. She shifted a little and brought her attention back to the armored men.

"What I have is far to important to give up, I refuse to let it fall into your hands!" She shouted, her eyes hardened and a grim resolve settled on her face. The fear had felt vanished as a single thought passed through her mind.

'I must protect it at all costs!'
