Assassination of the King

Zinnia's fingers tightened around the cold metal of the gun's handle. Her knuckles turned white with a determined grip. The black stiletto heels clicked as they made contact with the marbled floor that lead to the throne, the seat of the most powerful being in the nation. Every step rattled the fragile silence.

A knife strapped to her legs, a poisonous hair stick on her head, rounds of ammo underneath her tight black dress, a belt that can be a whip, and even a piercing metal inside the heel of her shoes, she has everything…

Everything she needs to assassinate the king.

One would think an assassination would be more subtle, inconspicuous. But the way Zinnia marched on, gun on hand, eyes piercing towards her target, her intentions can never be concealed. She didn't even bother masking it. Because, as it seems, nothing can be a secret for Arius.

The man in the elevated black chair sat comfortably with his crisp dark suit. His left forearm is on the metal armrest while his right elbow propped up on the other. His chin casually settled on his open palm as his gaze set on the only person in the middle of the empty dark hall.

He smirked. There's a gleam of fondness and a hint of pride as the figure of the woman heading his direction reflected in his grey eyes.

His grin even grew wider. No sense of dread or fear in his features.

If anything, he looked rather… delighted.

Anyone would question his sanity with the way he enjoyed seeing the femme fatale in black approach him, a woman who is dead set on putting a bullet on his heart.

But to him, it was only natural to be pleased.

She's his wife after all.

His musing over her did not stop even when she finally reached him, the barrel of her pistol in a point-blank range to his heart. In fact, his eyes crinkled more as if the act were the sweet words of her greeting.

Her crimson lips formed a tight straight line, "Can you just… die for me?"

After what seemed to be a moment of eternity, he looked up to her with an unreadable expression. The pair of translucent eyes met hazel. It's like he was searching for something through her serious eyes or perhaps, he was drowning in them.

He finally gave her a smile and sweetly said, "Gladly."

A pull in the trigger and an echo of a shot…

Then, it was over.

Her mission is over.

His life should be over… but…

How can an immortal man like King Arius die?
