Arthur suddenly opened his eyes as his hands quickly shielded his face, a scream of terror ready to come out of his throat but all that came out was a roar of fear. His mind did not register that yet for he had closed his eyes waiting for impact yet it never came. He opened his eyes once again and looked in front only to see nothing but trees till the horizon.
'What's going on?' he thought. Just then, he noticed some hing off with his hands, they were too hairy, leathery and black. He tried to curse out but all that came out were grunts. He touched his neck in more panic and felt it was hairy too, prompting him to look down subconsciously only to see his chest and stomach were as hairless as a kneecap but every other part of his body was covered in thick slightly dirty fur. His feet were short and his toes were duplicates of his fingers!
"Am I a monkey?" he asked himself then stood up. When he was a human, he stood at 1.70m but he immediately knew he was way taller than before. He looked at his arms and noticed he was build like a tank, muscles defining themselves even under his fur! His stomach, though had a gut, one could not mistaken the six packs he had. His chest, while smaller than a body builder, showed every fibre of his muscles. Arthur did not want to admit it but this monkey was more jacked than he ever was! It had more abs than his six friends combined! Sighing, he sat back crosslegged and started thinking.
He knew he has transmigrated into a monkey...no, a gorilla. He had not received any memories yet he knew how to use this body, muscle memory he guessed. He could not talk except for grunting and roaring and an unconscious action of beating his chest to intimidate others. He was a male so a silverback gorilla yet looking around, he did not have a troupe. That was good for he did not think he would be attracted to female gorillas and bad because he had no protection.
'I need to get a troupe of my own otherwise other predators might target me,' he thought as he got up. He limbered to the nearest tree and got hold of it's trunk with his left hand.
KCHACK!
'Holy shit, did I just break it's bark with just a grip! How strong am I or how weak is this tree?' he asked himself, moving away from the tree. He looked at his palms in wonder then walked back to the same tree. He gripped it with both hands and the tree just snapped like a twig.
'How in the world is this happening? Sure, gorillas are ten times as strong as normal humans but this is madness. How is this gorilla so strong?' he thought as he looked at the tree that was stuck in the branches of another, suspending it from falling. Curious once again, Arthur got hold of the tree with one of his arms and lifted it. He barely felt its weight as he yanked it off the other tree's branches and lifted it above his head. With a small exhale, he threw it away and in just seconds, it flew across the forest to the horizon.
'Shit, don't tell me I am in a fantasy world! Elves that can spam spells after spells, orcs that are too stupid to realize they are fighting their way to extinction, dwarves that can make any weapon given time, demi humans who have no business having so many delicious looking females and humans who somehow always end up upsetting every other race then crying to a summoned they are at the he brink of extinction. If it was that kind of fantasy world then he was screwed. He might as well stay in this forest and pretend to be a dumb gorilla.
'I really hope they do not find me. I am just a gorilla, a cute and herbivorous gorilla,' he said to himself. He looked up at the sky and suddenly realized something, it was night time! Yet, he could see very well even when no moon was visible! His eyesight was terrifying to say the least. Just as he was thinking of this, he had a snap of string coming from the trees behind him then something hit his fur with a hollow thunk before it fell to the ground. He turned around and was it was a broken arrow. Looking at the trees, he saw a silhouette of a human in leather armor, a bow in his hands readying to fire an arrow.
Arthur panicked a bit. when he realized this was his first encounter with humans who might start throwing spells after spells at him. Just then, the silhouette fired his arrow and Arthur looked at in a dumbfounded expression. Why? Because it was so slow it might as well have told him to stay still it might get to him eventually.
'Maybe this is an illusion,' Arthur told himself and pinched himself. The pain was real but why was the arrow still crawling towards him? Deciding to just ignore it, he turned to the tree the silhouette was in and jumped towards it, his left hand strung behind him. With a small roar, it slammed into the trunk in an almighty punch that broke it to splinters and the force actually broke two more tree trunks in front. A scream from above him woke him up from his observation making him look up to see the silhouette falling from the branches after losing balance in the middle of jumping off the tree. Arthur did not know a sadistic grin was pasted on his face as he stretched out his left hand and got hold of the silhouette's arms above its head. He brought it closer to him and there in front of him was a female with pointy nose ears, deep blue eyes, milky white skin, thin ruby red lips, an hourglass of a figure and wearing leather armour from the hide of an animal he had no idea. Her eyes looked at his with terror, making her look cute. Arthur grunted before smashing her to the ground so hard her body just exploded on itself, killing her instantly.
'You tried to kill me then act so pitifully when I caught you! How can one be so shameless!' he thought to himself looking at the remains of the female elf. 'I can't believe she was so weak she ended up dying so fast? Wait! I killed someone but I am disappointed she did not last long? Am I a sadist? Moreover, will her people came looking for her then start hunting me down when they find her like this...Shit, that's besides the point. What's wrong with my empathy? I don't feel anything even after knowing I caused her death!' Arthur tried reasoning with himself about why he should feel guilty or revolted but it was punching a dam, he did not succeed.
'Fuck it, she tried to kill me now she's dead. But I must not stay here for long. What if she is the princess of the elves of her master is an arch-mage! She would be pissed and send nukes of spells after me. Shit, that scary now that I have think about it. I need to flee from this place!' Arthur turned around and ran off in all fours, so fast was he all he left behind was a black blur.
"Lisabeth has yet to come back?" a middle-aged male elf asked a child elf sitting on his lap.
"No, she said she was going hunting for some monkeys to get their fur. Papa, I think she has a thing for them," the child answered with so much innocence the man was surprised how she knew about fetishes.
"No, it's just that their fur pay more because they are exotic and she needs a large sum of money to go to the academy," he answered her. The girl made a thinking pose which tempted the man to pinch her cheeks.
"Papa, if the academy is so important to her, why doesn't she just accept the marriage arrangement with the principal's son, she would get in without risking her life so much," she said, making the man smile fondly.
"Your sister has principles which she follows to the letter, that's what makes her special. She said she would get in with her own effort and that I what she will do. She's been like that for fifty years. I can't believe her adolescence is about to be over and she will be someone's wife soon," he said with a small foolish smile on his face. The door opened making the two to look at it expectedly. Their faces fell when they saw it was a middle-aged female elf that came inside. When she saw their crestfallen faces, a tick mark appeared on her face.
"Oi oi, what's with those faces. Here I am carrying tonight's dinner and you all look like you didn't want me to be me," she growled, making the two think fast. The little girl jumped down from her father's lap and ran into her arms.
"Mommy's the best," she cried out, snuggling her face on her neck. The woman smiled warmly while the man thanked the heavens for that.
"Where's Lisabeth?" the woman asked.
"Hunting monkeys for their fur as usual," the man answered.
"She will be tired then, I will cook more food for her," she said with a resolute smile on her face. So, the family of three got to cook a meal for four while in the forest a body of a female elf was been ravaged by a family of rats.
