As I sat there I started to hate the familiar awkward silence of waiting in the office. it's a silence that lets you hear everything, every footstep, every stroke of a scratchy pen, and every click as the office lady typed on the computer. I start to fidget with my hands t due to the thought of going to the principal's office. In the nine years I've been to school I've never been sent to the principal's office. Yet I've managed to be told to go to the principles office on the second day of school. What are we going to talk about? Are they going to tell my parents? How will they react? How am I going to explain to them what happened?
- "sorry."
I was glad to be pulled out of my trance as the voice next to me started speaking.
"I'm sorry you got involved. I know you had noting to do with what happened. If anything you''re a witness."
"Yeah I g-guess if it was-was not for you I would h-have punched him my-myself"
"Tell me about it Sam is so fucking annoying."
he's not wrong sam is one of the most annoying people I've met and I've met a lot of people.
" Why d-did you punch him."
He turned to look at me. "Have you ever heard curiosity killed the the cat?"
I felt a lump in my throat as I gulped. But since I was curious I played dumb. "Why would it kill the cat?" I felt my lips twitch at the corners trying to fight turning into a smirk but failed and soon that smirk turned into a smile.
"Fine if you must know I'm Alani's older step brother slash bodyguard ."
my smile immediately turned into an expression of confusion . "y-your joking right. Do you say bod-dyg-gaurd as in p-protecting your sister r-right."
"No I am saying I get paid to protect her. If it wasn't for her requesting that our families stay in touch I would have nothing to do with her. She suggested I become her bodyguard to her father so I could be allowed to go to school. It was a win win for both sides. She gets protection and I get educated."
I was about to respond but was interrupted by the ringing sound of the office phone.
The lady from yesterday picked up "Yes sir send I will send them right over."
She looked at us. It was time.
