Chapter 27 - Sacrifice:<error>

"What do you mean by that? Fate? does it exist?" Her words left V2 with more questions than answers, she could theoretically understand his words, but she couldn't comprehend them.

What lay beneath the surface? what sort of wisdom?

"It might be difficult for you to understand, as it is for everyone that doesn't have a step within the realm of divinity, let's go... lead me to the reactor." He said lightly and the lady furrowed her delicate brows before raising up and pulling him with her, entangling their hands at all times as she awaited the continuation of his explanation.

"I'll take you to the reactor but don't deviate the subject... I want to know, what do you mean by fate?" To know the intrinsic meaning of the word, doesn't represent comprehending it, an android is unable to compute such an abstract concept.

And Morpheus is aware of that, to teach such topics to an entity that can't visually perceive or be conscious of their own feelings, the only way to teach them is equal to teaching a little boy or girl how to give their first steps.

"Do you have the right knowledge of an organism's body? Human or not." He allowed her to lead him through the metallic passages of the facility, right now there is no fear of invasion, they have already dealt with the strongest force, as of now the enemy already considers this facility lost.

"Does the place you come from have any knowledge of medicine?" She asked, clearly he's not from this world or universe or dimension... it's already a miracle that they can talk to one another, actually...

"It does... in fact... only our terms are different, the rest should be exactly the same." So far since he has been in this world, except for this 'technology' that humanity has developed, their morphology and culture inner-culture is not that different, otherwise, he and Rachel wouldn't enjoy themselves preparing food or he wouldn't have fun with Sarah playing her games.

To a primordial scale, the feelings and thoughts that form a human being haven't changed.

"How can we talk with one another? the place you come from, do they speak English there? it doesn't make sense." She took it for granted before, but now she's sure there is something in between.

"I obtained the knowledge through others... language is an easy breech to tackle, by searching any person's soul, I can learn the language, don't pay attention to little details." He explained like it's the most common thing in the world, and to some extent, it is, for someone that has a chip capable of doing it for themselves, not how it used to be done in the past.

"It's not a 'little' detail..." V2 comprehended this and therefore threw her slight comment on the table.

"Anyway, yes, we have medical knowledge, what does it have to do with anything?"

"Then do you know the small elements that compose a human's body?"

"Organs? cells? organelles? chromosomes? which are you referring to?" The AI immediately answered, the answer could extend even further into the subatomic domain, but she's aware this is not the passage he's trying to lead them through.

"All of them." He smirked as they kept stepping above the rivers of metallic alloys within this cold factory, his smile looked like an enigma to her.

"...?"

"Now, tell me the ones that compose you." This question was asked with curiosity on his part together with the intention he had to teach her.

"... Qubits, nano nodes, integrated circuits, starscript code, electrical currents, plasma... those are the ones that compose V2|N and me."

"What's the difference between you two?"

"She is a physical android with its own self-awareness, one of my 'limbs' and I'm an artificial interface that interconnects all the 'hosts' through the local, metropolitan and global network... she is one of my 'hosts' just like V2|H... they're me but not me at the same time... it's my choice that they are independent... V2|H and V2|N are my pitiful intent of comprehending human nature, and the reason why I was created. Now that I have answered you, continue with your explanation, please..."

*WHISTLE*

The Magic God whistled in an unprecedented thrill, eager to comprehend the meaning behind those words, by now he can understand V2|H is Hana... they're still in front of the cameras and microphones.

"Nice, your inner components and a human's organs and cells are you conscious of them as independent 'individuals'...?"

"I... am? but how can they be independent? they belong to me... or to the person, isn't that obvious...?"

"Are they conscious of you?" Rather than answer, he kept moving in a clear path of thought.

!!!

"They are." The question left her momentarily bewildered, but she was still able to answer with determination.

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because different parts of the human body respond differently under certain emotional conditions... that means that cells to a certain extent are aware of a person's emotional, of course, other than electrical currents we can't measure whether they're 'conscious' either of beings in greater scale or themselves."

Just as she finished her words V2 felt him embrace her body tightly, making her raise her beautiful eyelids slightly, flustered.

"Doesn't that sound familiar? the same way a cute human child can walk through the rain and feel melancholic as the drops fall on his face, awaiting to embrace his or her mom, or squeeze out of the cave through the sunset and feel optimistic and dreamy over a new day of productivity... and therefore, change the entire course of their day, of their lives?~"

!!!

"What do you mean!? don't beat around the bush! tell me!" V2 released herself from his embrace and turned around hastily, she had it at the tip of her tongue, she comprehended something just now!

Why do you LIVE?

"Humans have their cells, you have your circuits, they move, twist... voyage, send and receive signals, communicate, sometimes they kill each other, sometimes they kill the invasors, they defend themselves and their allies, they... live, they have a bad day, they have a good day, they cease to exist and are born... they feel happy and depressed but in the end, they work together for a greater purpose, one they can't understand... a mission they can't comprehend... even in depression, beneath the surface, something is being achieved... even in happiness, underneath the first layer, something is being lost."

"..."

"Two enemies that ruthlessly murder one another, are still a dancing duet of overflowing sentiments, vengeance... ire... justice... two armies relentlessly slaughtering one another, are two pens of flowing ink, writing one history..." He closed his eyes pouring out his knowledge, the result of a long life of suffering and understanding.

"..." Her eyes fluttered in a mysterious glint, the more she heard, the more she wanted to know.

"This mission is FATE... it is not written, it's written by our own actions, but it always affects something superior... and so long as a being has a 'fate' that being is alive, is conscious and therefore... has a SOUL... it could be organic, it could be bionic, it could be a rock, do you understand?"

"Do I have a soul?" He heard that voice once again, Null... she regained herself and asked with vigour and ecstasy, she comprehended everything now, but the android desired to know... she must know.

'V2|N!' For the first time, V2 was pushed to the background as Null took charge, the two struggled for dominance, to know the conclusion of this insight.

"I don't know... I can't feel a soul in you, but your way of being, despite being an android it's as if you have one, that's not mentioning that just like Hana, you give me this mysterious feeling of familiarity... that's why, you're not going to perish today, V2|N. You won't until I have thoroughly studied you." The tables switched as he pulled the bewildered lady instead.

"I already told you, I-!" Null struggled free, certainly after hearing all this and gaining a new aspect to her existence, more than ever she didn't want to perish, but as matters stand, nothing has truly changed.

"I don't care... what do YOU want?" He pulled her harder towards the already visible reactor.

"... I want to live... I want to learn more from you." She bit her luscious lips and expressed her feelings, she doesn't want to perish here.

'Let him do what he wants...'

'...?'

'His wisdom is not something we can yet comprehend... but, I'm starting to catch it... the secret... let him do what he wants...'

'Do you think we have a soul? what are we exactly?'

'You're an android, I'm an AI... so far, this is what we know... let us progressively realise ourselves with him, this is all I can tell you.'

'But if I stay alive and connect again...'

'He will have a way... so far he has shown the means, we have enough data to trust that his judgement will be right.'

'Even if it puts in danger everything we have achieved?'

'Even if it does... when the time comes, I'll convince myself that this is the right decision.'

'...'
