I thrust my bloody sword against the stunned enemy in front of him. Of course, no one was expecting to be suddenly attacked on the back, and even less when it was them who had launched an ambush.
My sword bypassed his sluggish and clumsy defense before it sank inside his belly. The pain must have been horrendous, as the man was looking with terrified eyes.
I could understand him. After all, an injury on the belly like this one meant that he would die anyway even if he survived this battle. And in fact, it would even be better if he died there. At least, he wouldn't feel his inside slowly dying before him.
As if he was here to grant his wish, Anis appeared on my side with an incredible speed before one of his short swords passed through the throat of the enemy as if it was only water.
The head detached itself from the body, and slowly, so slowly that I could see the thin line appeared bit by bit, the head fell to the ground. The body, maintained by my sword, was standing still, with a red liquid painting on it.
With a powerful kick, I got my sword back while the body of this guy fell on the ground, more dead than ever. I looked at it for a second, before I turned my face to look around me.
I rushed on the enemies with my swords, ready to kill and make the blood flow. The enemies were at a disadvantage, as they were now fighting on two fronts.
My sword made a large arc in the sky before falling against the blade on an enemy. The powerful blow pushed him back as I chained with a slash with my second sword. But a sword appeared from nowhere to lock my weapon.
That was a battlefield. I wasn't alone, but the enemies neither, and we kept exchanging blows here and there.
I parried a sword on my right and cut off the wrist of this man as he yelled under the pain. But the scream was devoured by the omnipresent clash of the battle around us.
Sergeant Lamy was on my left, fighting against an enemy. But as he was starting to gain the high ground, another one of these bastards pounced against my sergeant.
I didn't like this guy, and actually, I even hated him. He was petty, and a lazy bitch, and treated his soldiers as tools.
But even so, we were in the same camp, fighting the same enemies, walking on the same blood, screaming the same words. I charged in his direction with all my energy as I dodged and ignored an enemy.
This one followed after me but I didn't even take him into account, for me, he was already dead. Before he made more than a few steps, a tip of a blade appeared from his mouth, breaking his teeth at the same time. The spear was coming from behind, an excellent hit.
I didn't even watch, as I knew that Jean was there, ready to strike at any moment. I jumped a short distance to appear in front of one of the two soldiers Lamy was fighting against. I stopped his sword with my own and slashed at him with my other one.
The enemy leaped back to dodge my blow, and once my sword had hit nothing but a few leaves standing in the way, he propelled his body forward, making me his new target.
Sometimes, in the middle of a battle, it wasn't surprising to fall against these kinds of fighters. After all, no one was like each other, and not all powerful soldiers were special or had a name.
It was even the contrary, and it was among the normal soldiers that there was the most risk to meet this kind of man.
And when this was the case, there was only one thing that a soldier like myself could do. And that was to squeeze my buttocks with all my strength.
I parried in extremis the violent hit he had made, but before I could do anything, he used the rebound to launch another flawless attack, at a tricky angle. Every one of his strikes was aimed at my vital areas.
I could only parry away the blow, dodging at the last moment or deviating his sword. But each time, he found a way to continue, cutting my ways of taking back the initiative. Even with two swords, this guy was too fast for me, way too fast.
Of course, I had a plan for these speedy guys, one that always worked. Anyway, I didn't have the choice anymore but to use this mighty trick.
Suddenly, as I parried the last blow before I wanted to use my plan of genius, a sword followed by a man appeared on my left and struck at my opponent.
A smile bloomed in my face as if it was evidence.
We hated each other, we even wanted each other to be killed in the most gruesome way.
But we were members of the 5th Company. We were members of the same 2nd platoon, and most importantly, we were members of the same squad.
Sergeant Lamy stopped the current attacks with a powerful blow while shouting at him to die. I lowered my body stance and rushed toward the right with incredible speed, before pouncing on my opponent.
All around me, the enemies were beginning to be cleaned up by the pincer attack of the 5th Company and the 1st Company. My smile grew even larger, as it meant that no one would disturb us.
The sword of the enemy scratched the left arm of the sergeant before this one struck with a strong kick. The opponent, obliged to dodge it, found himself in front of me. My smile was showing him my teeth. And my swords descended on him.
He still parried the left sword with an incredible speed, but he couldn't stop the other one who entered inside his body. But before the blade could completely cut off his left arm, he contorted himself while lowering his back, and hit me with a powerful kick making me step back.
We looked at each other, him against us two. He was bleeding from the gash on his left shoulder that spread to his chest. He was strong, stronger than both of us, but his end would come anyway.
I could see his eyes widen as he saw something. This guy was good. I didn't think he would be able to see it.
I charged toward him without waiting for more as he waved his sword in the air as if he was trying to cut an invisible opponent.
With a powerful clash of metal against metal, his sword was repelled as I was only a meter away from him.
A broken item fell at his feet as he saw the tip of my sword rushing at his throat. He couldn't defend himself anymore, his sword was too far away to be used to defend himself. The only thing he had time to do was to turn his face to look behind me.
There, was probably standing the most powerful guy from my team.
It wasn't Jean with his terrifying speed and his long spear. It wasn't Dereck with his mighty strength and his scary ax. It wasn't Anis with his killer instinct and his bloody daggers. It wasn't me either. It was Jimmy, with his godly precision and a longbow on his dexterous hands.
