The flight to Las Vegas took six hours, the longest six hours of my life. I've always hated flying because I get nauseous. Why are people comfortable in being so far above the ground in a machine? I never understood that. Sitting at the window sit made it a bit better, I just stared out the window looking at the clouds and hoping for the flight to be over. Anna on the other hand slept all through the flight.
When we landed at the airport, Anna and I went to take our luggage and waited for our ride to pick us up. The Davenports knew how to treat their guest well, our chauffeur held out a sign that read "Gilbert" and brought a fancy-looking Limousine. Our bags were carried for us and the limo had snacks for us to eat on our way to the Villa.
We pulled up at a huge silver gate and I was in awe. The place was extremely beautiful, with silver lights glistening all around the gate. The house, if I could even call it that was magnificent and I hadn't seen anything like that in person only on tv.
Our door was opened for us and we stepped out. A woman approached us with a smile," Hello, I'm Martha the housekeeper. You must be Stacey", she said offering her hand.
I took her hand and shook it," Yes, I am. It's nice to meet you Martha", I replied. "This is my coworker Anna", I added gesturing to Anna who was beside me. They both exchanged pleasantries and from the look of it, Martha seemed like a nice and warm person.
"Please follow me, I'd like to show you to your rooms. I'm sure you had a long flight and would like to rest", she stated as she gestured for us to follow her.
We followed her down the hallways, there were so many rooms, and the painting was beautifully done.
By the time we were on the fifth floor, my legs hurt and I couldn't wait to lay down on a proper bed. We stopped in front of a cream-colored door and Martha opened it, entering inside with Anna and me behind her.
" This is where you two will be staying", she announced. "If you need anything feel free to let me know, I'll leave you two to rest", she added as she left and shut the door.
The room was purple, it had two separate queen-sized beds, the interior decor was superb. It looked more comfortable than some of the hotels I'd been in. Anna went to freshen up in the restroom so I decided to start unpacking.
There was a knock on the door," who is it", I inquired.
"It's me girl", the person responded and I immediately recognized Trina's voice.
She opened the door and embraced me in a hug.
" When did you get here?", I asked
"Just now", Trina replied. " Let's go to the living room everyone's there. I want to introduce you".
"Alright, let me just tell Anna", I said. I walked to the bathroom door and knocked.
" Yeah?", Anna shouted over the sound of the shower.
"I just wanted to let you know that Trina and I are going downstairs", I explained. " Will you be okay?"
"Yep, I'll be fine. I want to take a nap".
" Okay, see you", I responded leaving the room with Trina.
"So who exactly am I meeting?", I asked as we headed to the living room.
" Well you've met my mom and sister, you're going to meet Tiffany's brother and best friend", Trina said with a smile.
"Did you really call me to meet Tiffany's brother and best friend?", I implored. I thought I was going to be meeting important guests that were rumored to be attending the wedding.
" I just wanted to hag with you for a while", she shrugged.
On getting to the living room, a blonde-haired guy was talking while giving hand gestures. He seemed like he was narrating a story probably an amusing one because of the glint in his eyes. He was so focused on his story that he didn't even notice us join them.
"Must you always talk Brandon?", Trina asked with a teasing smile.
" Oh baby cousin, you know that's my specialty", Brandon retorted, moving towards Trina and putting his hands around her shoulder. She rolled her eyes and playfully pushed him away from her.
The rest of the people gathered around the table were Tiffany, a tanned girl with ginger hair. Tiffany smiled at me once she saw me and the ginger girl gave a blank expression.
"Hope you settled in well?", asked Tiffany
" Yes, I did. I love the room and everything", I smiled.
"Aren't you going to introduce us", Brandon asked cutting our conversation short. " You know it's rude right?", he added.
"Brandon, this is my beautiful best friend Stacey and Stacey this is my idiot cousin Brandon, he's Tiffany's brother", Trina said.
"Lovely to meet you Stacey", Brandon remarked taking my hand and placing a kiss on it.
" I guess nobody wants to introduce me", the ginger-haired girl announced rising on her feet. She walked up to where Brandon and I stood, and stared at our hands that were still together. Realizing that we were still holding hands I quickly withdrew my hand.
"I'm Michelle Stone, it's nice to meet you Stacey", she said offering her hand. The look on her face showed that it was anything but nice to see me. She obviously didn't like me and the firm grip she had when we shook hands proved it. It was like she was telling me with her eyes that I was not worthy to be in her presence.
Michelle withdrew her hands and took Brandon's hands in hers," Can you please work out with me for a little while", she asked him with puppy dog eyes.
Brandon looked between her and me then his gaze focused on her, "of course", he replied.
"I'll see you around Stacey", he said as Michelle pulled him away.
Tiffany excused herself and it was only Trina and I left in the room.
" And then they were two", Trina joked.
I laughed, "Are Michelle and Brandon dating or something?"
"No way. I mean they hook up here and there but it's nothing serious".
" Like that makes it any better", I retorted with a laugh.
"She only dates dancers like herself apparently", Trina explained. " But sometimes she acts so possessive towards Brandon".
Exactly, she didn't even try to hide it. Did she really think I was hitting on Brandon? I'm sure she's one of those people that thinks she's better than others just because she's some big shot dancer.
"Is she like a professional dancer?", I questioned
" Yeah, she has her dance team and agency. She's a big deal", Trina replied as she checked her phone.
Her agency? That's very impressive. Rich people are always friends with rich people.
"Oh shoot, I gotta go help Tiffany get something", Trina said. " Will you be fine on your own or should I take you back to your room?"
"I'm fine here, I'd like to explore a little", I responded
" Okay, see you later", she said as she walked away.
I wandered out of the parlor to the kitchen. It was really beautiful and had so much equipment. Running my hand on the oven, I felt the quality of the paint and I knew that cooking here was going to be fun. Whilst I was checking out the kitchen I tripped on my foot and knocked down a few of the stainless bowls. The bowls made a loud sound as they reached the floor, some even falling on my body causing me to groan.
"Is everything alright in there", I heard someone with a British accent ask.
Oh my God, it's just the first they, and I was already embarrassing myself. I quickly stood up and dusted my cloth trying to remove the wrinkles.
The person came into view and I gave a small gasp once I saw who it was. There was no he was here.
" Are you alright love?", the man asked with a worried look. "Should I call the doctor, did you hit your head or something?"
"I-mm alright", I stuttered
He stared at me and walked closer to me holding my face in his hands, checking if I was hurt.
I stared at those mesmerizing ocean blue eyes I had fallen for before and I was still shocked that he was standing before me at this moment.
" You look vaguely familiar", he stated, "have we met before?"
