Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: THE DECISION

"You'll do it for your mother…"

SLAM

"Your brother…"

SLAM

"And your career, think about it Davina."

SLAM

THUD

"Yet another win for the goddess of destructionnnnn…DAVINA SMIT!"

The 'announcer" screamed into the mic.

Just another filth trying to act as if this were a real and official match.

It wasn't.

This was where the lowest of the low came to fight, the savages that do not care for rules and just want to inflict pain on others than are below them.

The UFC was nothing like that, it was a sport. A sport to have pride in.

But in the underground you have no other choose but to survive.

Davina Smit, at the age of fifteen had already been well versed in martial arts. Her dream to even become part of the UFC ring, to become a martial artist.

But poverty knows how to strike down dreams.

Instead the young girl joined the underground fight scene, having to provide a stable income for her family, for her stress stricken mother and her baby brother.

But the fights were too violent, Davina was getting too hurt. The thrill was not the one she wanted to become addicted to.

So she left the underground, wanting to dwell in the light for once. And she did, she started MMA and fought in many UFCs.

Finally becoming a MMArtist she had always wanted to become and eventually at the ripe age of eighteen she had won Fighter of the Year award, being the youngest female to be awarded this.

Everything was finally coming together, she was finally able to live her dream and able to provide clean money for her family…

That was until a truck came crashing into her, if only it were a real truck. But no, it was a slimy, crooked cockroach.

"Well look who it is, my dear Davina."

The blondes face grew pale, her hands forming it fists at the sight of the crooked old man.

James Na, a man who was filled with dark desires and those desires had covered Davina. When she had just joined the underground he had approached her, offering to be her manager in exchange for some of her earnings. Telling her no one would take a kid seriously.

"What the hell do you want?!" Her fist had clamped down on his collar, getting ready to beat him to a pulp.

"Aw, don't be like this to an old friend dear." He removed her hand, digging into his pocket. "I didn't come empty handed after all."

Snatching the photos from his hands her eyes grew wide, her shoulders shaking as she tore them up.

"Ah don't worry dear. Those were just copies." His devilish grin made Davina sick to the stomach.

"…What do you want?"

The photos were of Davina back in her dark old days, her bloodied bruised face and the almost dead opponent at her feet. The past she had desperately wanted to forget.

"There's a match come up. It's worth 2.3 billion." James was always full of greed, but his greed glossed over eyes sent a shiver up Davinas spine.

"Why me, you can get someone else who's already in the underground!?"

Grinning, "Davina dear. Everyone will think you'd lost your touch. Having been under strict rules for so many years now, they will surely think you'll loose. So many people will gamble on the opponent, leaving us with so much money!" He said, licking his dry, crusty lips.

She couldn't refuse, she knew exactly why he had shown her those photos. Her career was on the line, the income she earned for her family was on the line, there was no reason for her to refuse.

So Davina agreed, her blue eyes darkened. She took a months hiatus, if she had gone to fights bruised and batted, it would just make people question.

Training, training, training.

The past few days, the only thing Davina had been doing was train for the upcoming match. Knowing well that rules were none and void once stepping into the cage.

And maybe she had become rusty, she was slightly afraid, her stomach turned just thinking about walking into the cage. Her past self already wanting to merge and beat the opponent to death.

The night before the match Davina had decided to go the the convenience store. Her nerves were on edge and she couldn't sleep so she decided to walk to the store, in the middle of the night.

"Hey Cai." She answered the phone, smiling as she heard her younger brother over the line. "Dav! Why're you taking a hiatus? My friends keep asking." Her grip had tightened around the phone.

"Oh you know, fighters need a month off sometimes.." She continued to speak with Cairo, her saddened smile still playing at her lips.

"Did mom…tell you I'm moving schools?" Davinas eyebrow arched up in confusion. She had not been told of this. "What, why?"

Cairo told his sister that their mother had told him that the school he was attending was far too expensive. So she had asked him to go to a cheaper school.

She was furious, "Put Ma on the phone."

"But-"

"No buts Cairo, put Ma on the phone. Now."

Doing as told Davina heard her mother's tired hello. Her tired voice bringing back the memories Davina never wanted to remember.

"What's wrong with the money I've been giving to you!" Her voice cracked as she shouted.

"I can't keep using your money Davina. I should have never used it."

"Why!? Why are you making Cairo move to a new sch-"

Her body slumped forward onto her knees, a sharp pain had hit her side and her gasp of breath cutting off the sentence.

"Davina? Davina!"

The girl held her side, a liquid flowing onto her hand. She knew she had just been stabbed, the warm blood was leaking out of the wound.

She knew she was going to go someday, but not like this. She didn't want to die so soon, so young. She wanted to watch Cairo grow into an adult, she wanted to get married and have kids of her own…

But now that was impossible.

She was dying.

Before she could even see the perpetrators face, her eyes fluttered shut despite her protest. The world covered in darkness.
