"Good day, Matthew. Do you happen to remember me?" Pamela muttered, causing Meredith to freeze in embarrassment while Matthew's smile grew wider. However, he was not his usual self. He wasn't acting high and mighty but was rather calm and graceful. The recent passing of his grandmother had left a deep mark on him, and you could see the sadness and pain reflected in his eyes.
"Of course, I do," Matthew whispered as he stepped closer to Meredith, leaving her frozen and unsure of how to react. The only thing she managed to do was to turn her phone down and end the video call before Pamela made the situation more awkward. Meredith couldn't help but wonder how much of their conversation had been overheard.
"Umm...," Matthew said, smiling softly as he came closer to Meredith. He was close enough to feel her breath, and her heart began to race. She was at a loss for words as Matthew took in her scent and picked an apple from a nearby basket.
