Meredith's POV
Matthew tried to reassure me. "The nurses will be invisible. They'll just check your details when necessary. Your father thought it would be best to have professionals around since your due date is near. It's just a precaution."
I still wasn't convinced. The thought of strangers invading my privacy made me uneasy. But I knew Matthew meant well, and I didn't want to upset him. So, I reluctantly agreed to the arrangement.
"And no thought to discuss this with me," I mumbled.
As I lay on the chair, Matthew walked up to me holding a small cup filled with medicine. "Here, open your mouth, take your medicine," he said with a kind smile. I slowly opened my mouth as he pushed the medicine into it and offered me a cup of water. I swallowed it down my throat, feeling the cool liquid wash away the bitter taste.
