Meredith's POV
I pressed the dial button on my phone and waited anxiously for Gabby to pick up. As the ringing continued, I whispered to myself, trying to calm the three little lives growing inside me. I shifted in my chair, rubbing my hand over my protruding belly, feeling a bit uneasy but brushed it off as excitement. Maybe the babies could sense their father's presence.
Finally, Gabby answered the phone, interrupting my thoughts. Her tone was cold, and I could sense a hint of anger and sadness lingering in her voice. "See who is calling, my friend that ghosted me... for the second time," she muttered sarcastically.
Her words stung me, and for a moment, I forgot the reason for my call. As we talked, I couldn't help but notice a strange tone in her voice. It wasn't like her usual self, and I couldn't help but wonder if she had been drinking. But it was too early to assume, and I decided to let the conversation unfold.
