Meredith's POV
"How is he?" I heard Lizzy question the doctors. The doctors seem to be silent. I was terrified that something might have gone wrong during the surgery. The silence only meant there was bad news. A glint back to my pilgrimage to the hospital the day I was called in about my mother's accident.
I still remember how shocked I was, totally messed up, my body feeling numb, at that moment I could tell I was already gone. The doctors couldn't tell me how she was, and when they opened their mouths to speak. I wish they never did.
"Your father's surgery didn't go so well," a familiar voice whispered, speaking bluntly even though she was calm, I could tell from her voice and her tone she must be Melinda their mother.
