Matthew's POV
After departing from Lizzy's abode, I made my way to the family estate to pay a visit to my father. Upon our conversation, he divulged to me the tribulations he had been facing at his occupation.
This conversation was a turning point in our relationship, as for the first time, I felt as though he was in agreement with me and supportive of my relationship with Meredith.
Though it may have been the influence of alcohol, I made the impulsive decision to offer my assistance and take over the company.
"Dad, I believe I am prepared to assume control of the company now," I declared whilst taking another sip of my beer.
My father, who had imbibed quite a bit, hissed at me before draining the remainder of his bottle and turning to face me. "Are you serious about this, my son?" he questioned.
