I knock on Cyran's office. Well, it was Cayden's before, but it's no longer his. Cayden is gone for good. He isn't coming back.
I've had enough time to think things through. After what Bonnie told me, it makes no sense for me to be mad at him when all he tried to do was protect me and the baby from Garrett. I'm mortified by the things I said to him last night, but perhaps it isn't too late to reconcile? He was true to his word. He didn't come to see me once, and I was kind of hoping he would so I wouldn't have to do this.
There isn't an answer, so I knock harder. I was told that he didn't come down for breakfast and that he's been in his office since last night, so I know he's in there. When he answers, "Come in," I twist the knob and push the door open slowly.
"Cyran? I wanted to—" That smell. That nauseating smell. Emilia turns back to look at me and he takes a step away from her. He looks surprised to see me.
"Mia," is all he says.
