Barbara is helping me with the dress. I didn't know that a mating ceremony is similar to a wedding. The dress is simple and is supposed to be the color of my coat. My coat is white, Cyran told me, so that should be the color of my dress. It was Donna who recommended her. I'm glad she did. I like Barbara and I trust her. She has good intentions. And we get along.
"What's yours?" I ask her.
"Gray," she simply says.
"So your dress will be gray?"
"When I do mate, yes." She stops and looks up at me. "I don't think Serge wants to mate with me. I think I'm just his plaything. I don't know how to explain this to my father."
I don't say anything in response. I feel sorry for her. I can't stand Serge, and the fact that she has to deal with him daily is unimaginable. He truly doesn't take her seriously and doesn't show her the respect she deserves. She told me before that she envies what Cyran and I have, and I know why. Serge isn't half the man--or wolf-- his nephew is.
