Chapter 9 - Chapter-7

"What the hell are you saying?" I yelled.

"I knew you wouldn't believe me. Just come here and see for yourself," Jason said and cut the call.

I threw the phone on the wall, shattering the scene in a thousand pieces.

But it can't be possible. We made sure of that. Boss would kill me if he came to know about it. Damn it, where did we go wrong?

Luckily I was in the neighborhood. I quickly drove to that place and parked the car outside. Everything and everyone was in a rush inside. Stretchers got dragged from one corner to another, men in coats hurriedly pacing from one place to another with few people following behind them. I went to the receptionist asked the man sitting behind the desk, "Excuse me, where is Operation Theater?"

"Sir, it's on the first floor, at the end of the corridor," he said, pointing towards the staircase at our right. I nodded and moved towards it.

Everything was so confusing. I made sure to leave Crystal in a position where she was not even in a situation to get up; it was too far to walk.

But then why did Jason said he saw someone just like Crystal? I was going to lose all my senses.

He even said that she's the one who is operating on Dale.

I quickly went to the operation theater to check if what he was saying correct or not. Jason stood outside the room, waiting for me. Once he saw me, he rushed to my side.

"Right now, the operation is going. Wait till it is over, then you'll see,"

I did as he said and waited for the girl to come out. Once the red light went off and the door to the room opened, I stood up and looked at her as she walked out. She felt her gaze on me and glanced up at me. I stared at her very attentively, trying to see what made Jason believe it was Crystal. Yes, she had a figure like her, and from a distance, she seemed to look like Crystal. She was also limping while walking, a clear sign of leg injury, but as she was wearing a full-sleeved coat and ankle-length jeans, I couldn't see any other proof from that night.

The thing that planted a seed of doubt in my mind - countering Jason's assumption - was the fact that her whole demeanor was different. She looked innocent in comparison to Crystal, who had a completely different aura of a rebel. But just as I looked into her eyes, my eyes widened in shock.

I could not be confused. I could never forget those eyes that looked at me with so much resentment yesterday. The only difference now was, it now held confusion and curiosity in them.

I composed myself quickly before she could detect something. If she was Crystal, then I couldn't risk myself getting exposed. I needed a plan first. She turned towards me like she was coming to me just then a nurse came up to her. I found this chance to escape from there and dragged away Jason with me. After going outside, I called the boss to inform him about this.

"You idiots. How could you make such a mistake?" he shouted. I gulped in fear after hearing some crashing sound in the background.

"Sir, we are still not 100 % sure if it's her," I said to cool off his anger a little.

"Didn't you see her face yesterday?" he asked. I relaxed as his tone got a little lighter.

"No, sir, it was too dark in there," I told him honestly.

We never saw faces of Crystal or her team except for Sam, which we got two years back through our secret resources. And yesterday night, it was so dark, and on top of it, it was snowing badly. We couldn't see her face at all, except her eyes, shining from the burning flames of anguish.

"Then make sure of it," he instructed us. "If it is Crystal, then I want her dead, and this time no mistakes," he gave us last warning.

I nodded and ended the call. I went inside again to inquire about the girl, but they told, she left a few minutes ago. I cursed inwardly and asked about her address. They refused to share the full address and just told me the area where she lived in.

"Mason, I saw the car which she drove here. I remember the vehicle number," Jason told me.

"Good, then let's go that area and try to find it,"

The receptionist told she lived in East 66th street, but we looked around there for long but couldn't find that car.

If she lives here, then where is she?

I started to think that it was false information when suddenly a car came in front of us from around the corner.

"Mason. It's her," Jason said and pointed towards that car.

"You sure?" I asked, and he showed me the picture he clicked before when she was getting off the car.

I smirked and followed her. She was driving towards the expressway that led to Brooklyn, and we stayed close behind her. But at some point, she found us following her and started taking sharp turns. We tried to catch up with her but then lost her. I slammed my hand on the wheel, cursing our luck. I still kept driving when we were out of Manhattan and entered the colonial areas of Brooklyn. I saw her car again, but this time I stayed a little far so she won't notice us.

She stopped in front of a mansion and entered inside when the guard opened the door. Just then, the boss called us. I picked up the call and told him how we followed her,

"Sir, we found her, for a minute we lost her, but right now she is front of us," I said

"Where is she?" he asked.

"She is going inside someone's mansion," I said as I watched the girl through the gate, ringing the bell. She tapped her foot as she waited for someone to open the door. It was a posh area where only prestigious and dominant people live; I didn't understand why she was here. A gasp left from the mouth at the sight of the person who opened the door.

"What happened?" the boss asked.

He's going to blow up at my answer.

"Sir, it's Sam, she is with Sam," I told him apprehensively. I saw Sam opening the door for her, letting the inside and closing the door behind him.

"What are you trying to say? Are you sure?" he barked.

"I don't know, sir," I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.

"Are you sure that girl is Crystal?" he asked impatiently.

I knew he needed a definite answer, but then I was in no state to give one. Though everything was pointing to only one thing, that she's Crystal, but still, my mind told me that we were going in the wrong direction.

"If it's Sam, then she is Crystal," the boss said after a prolonged silence. "Find a chance as soon as possible and kill her,"

"But boss, your target is Sam. Then why are you behind Crystal?" I asked him, confused. "We know Sam is inside. Probably others are too. So why don't we attack them?" I gave him a suggestion. After all, it looked like they are defenseless and won't be able to fight back if I bring some more men with me.

"You don't understand, do you," The boss said in a menacing tone. "I want to kill Sam with emotions. It will kill Sam to see her sister died because of him. Then when he would be at his weakest, I will end him." He laughed maniacally then hung up the call, leaving me in stress. I was more confused than before. But still, I enjoyed the thought that the girl had no idea what she was going to go through.

Last time she got saved, but this time, I'll give her a lot of pain, which she can't even imagine in her wildest dreams.
