CHAPTER TWO –
"Esme, we're going to be late!!" her mother yelled from downstairs.
Esme who was carefully drawing her perfectly winged eyeliner cursed as the slight derailing of the pen from the intended stop.
"Shit." She stared at her reflection in the mirror, her bright blue eyes staring right back. Using a face wipe to dab the black ink, she applied her another coat of lip gloss, pouting she smiled in satisfaction.
"Esme!!! Don't let me come up there." Her mother yelled again.
Esme sighed grabbing her bag pack which was on the small table next to her bed. She ran down the stairs her pony tail swinging as she moved, even after living in this house for more than seventeen years she never got used to the stairs and was out of breath by the time she got to the last step.
"Good morning honey." Arnold greeted walking into the room, placing a kiss to Esme forehead.
"Morning dad." She giggled. "Late day at work?"
"Yea, I'll be leaving by ten." He said grabbing a cup of coffee in the kitchen.
"I'll see you later on then?" she inquired heading towards the door.
"Most definetly. I love you." He said but she was already outside the door.
The glossy black Mercedes pulled out of the garage while she texted on her phone.
"Get in." her mother called over the opened windows, esme opened the door and sat down.
"We've got less than ten minutes before the gates close." Sarah groaned reversing out of the front porch.
"Hey siri, play Alice merton no roots" Esme said to her phone, few seconds later the music filled the room. The two slowly bobbed there heads to the music, Esme singing along, she looked out of the window, noticing another car with tint black windows driving right by their side. She was drawn to why the car wasn't trying to overtake or slow down, instead the driver whined down the glass.
The tanned man was wearing glasses and a black shirt, his face turned to face Esme, a sly grin forming on his lips revealing a bit of his fangs.
Esme frowned, who still uses Halloween props in march, she thought.
"Esme!" sarah called out to her concerned. "You're bleeding." She stated.
Esme was oblivious to the dark red liquid dripping out of her nose, she opened the passenger mirror, staring at her reflection. She reached out to touch it, wiping a bit of it on her fingers, something was off of how sticky and hot it felt against her fingers.
"Are you feeling light headed?" sarah voice breaks her out of her thought, shaking her head side ways, she reached for the tissue in the compartment box and wiped the blood off her nose, making sure she cleaned properly.
"Are you sure you're okay?" sarah asked again.
"I'm fine mom." She muttered.
She leaned her head on the window, the gate of her high school coming into view.
"Incase I or your dad don't come to pick you up by the time you're done…."
"I'll take the sub way." she completed. "I know mum." she said reaching for her bags at the back of the car.
The cold air seeped through her exposed legs as she exited the car, waving her mother goodbye as the car zoomed off. She stood still in front of the building, clutching the straps of her bag pack tightly.
This was all a new session, the last one before she heads to college, consumed by her thoughts she didn't notice the black car which came so close to her until it honked at her. She let out a small squeal jumping away from the car as she glared up at the driver.
Her mouth went sour when she discovered it was the car from earlier, she stood watching as the doors opened, and a boy about her age came out. He had jet black hair, his frame fitting the uniform he had on.
She watched as the boy ran his hands through his hair, unable to move away from where she stood. He moved his heads to the side, noticing all the stares he was getting from the students who were around. His eyes caught up with Esme's, and she gasped, her breathe hitched in her throat.
His eyes which were the darkest shade of brown and red combined we're enchanting, almost scary but she didn't feel that way.
They both stared at each other, his face was almost to perfect for a human, the sharp cheek bones, and outlined jaw line. His lips where a dark shade of red, almost like it was blood stained but her eyes snapped back up to his eyes.
"Hey babe." another voice greeted close by, tugging esme into a hug. she cut eye
contact with the strange boy as she allowed herself get snuggled into the arms of the boy she had been dating for the past year, Jason Robert.
She smiled as he gazed down at her, his hazel eyes sweeps over her face. He stood a couple of inches taller than her, he leaned down placing a peck on her lips.
She could hear her friends cheering behind them as Jason peck turned into a serious make out session. She slowly pushed him away, slapping his chest playfully.
"JASON!!!!" She scolded him, not being a fan of public display of affection especially when strangers where watching. Jason placed a quick kiss to her fore head, before moving to hold her from behind. Esme looked up, her eyes meeting the new eyes she was staring at earlier. The new set of emotion contoured on his face showed one thing, Anger.
"Hey babe." Jason called out and she snapped her gaze towards him
"What are you staring at?" he asked and she directed her gaze back to where the boy was.
Jason followed her gaze frowning at the empty space in front of her, he turned back to her.
"I didn't know the blank space was that interesting." He teased walking past her and into the building with his friends following.
Esme stood in awe, she was sure that a second ago, the new kid was standing right there and now he was gone and so was the black car.
