Chapter five:
Travis could feel the Primordials emotions rolling off of them. All of them, except for Hera, were feeling upset. Well, upset would be putting it mildly. Nuwa and Zhuque were depressed, Qinglong was in a state of shock and disbelief, while Bailhu was furious and Siwang and Xuanwue were fairy calm.
"Ah, crap..."
The original One Above All snorted derisively. "Well, what did you expect? You basically made them a babysitter and showed that you didn't trust them to do what you made them for. Even if they're still not entirely sure what you made them for."
"But that's not what Hera's purpose is! Well it is, but that's not all there is to it! Aren't they a part of me? Shouldn't they just know what I intend?
"Don't be stupid. They are beings of free will. They may be a part of you as far as being residents are concerned, but they are individuals with thoughts and feelings. Not to mention that while they have inherent wisdom given the nature of their being, they're still basically newborns. And right now they're upset and misunderstood your intentions. So? What are you going to do about it?
Travis stilled. What could he do about it? He was out here, and they were within, it's not like he could just pop in and-ooohhh wait, that's exactly what he can do.
"I can show myself and talk to them, right? Like you did with the Fantastic Four that one time?"
"Exactly. In my multiverse, I have revealed to comic book authors that I am able to manifest and speak to my creations and have done so on three different occasions. I've actually done so more than they know, but it's not like comics can catch everything. But anyway, once was with the Fantastic Four to save Ben Grimm's life, I also healed Reed Richards face of his scar at the time. The second was to recreate a universe at the behest of Thanos when he and Adam Warlock accidentally destroyed theirs. I decided to have Warlock replace that version of the Living Tribunal as well. It wasn't necessary, but I thought it might make interesting things happen later on. And the third was to guide a Peter Parker who was depressed that his Aunt May was dying and was in conflict between his calling as Spider-Man and his life as Peter, again. And of course, you are perfectly capable of doing the same."
"How?" inquired Travis.
"I plan to show you how to do many things, but this is something you should try and figure out on your own. Once you do, it'll be that much easier to do many other things. That and it comes so naturally to me now I can't exactly describe how I first learned to do it... but you don't need to know that." Thought Jack as he coughed into his fist.
"Okay." Thus Travis started to ponder about how he could talk to the Primordials.
(Meanwhile.)
Zhuque was depressed. Her feathers were dim as she lowered her head and cried into the chaos of creation. Her tears, as soon as they left her beak, crystallized into tiny gem's with life force scattering into the either. "Why does father not believe in me? I don't understand. Am I destined to fall and thus he put in place a measure to correct me?" She despaired.
Many of the others were thinking along the same lines. Though one was much more vocal about it.
"This is bullshit!" Bailhu raged, her voice sounding like metal grating together in dissonance. "If he was going to create us, why not make us perfect to begin with and save himself the trouble of any possible fallout from our nature's! Even better, why let us feel anything other than a sense of purpose? Needing to have this.... thing." She inclined her head towards Hera, around just makes all of redundant doesn't it?
At this, the newcomer, a being much more powerful than they, laughed. All of the Primordials looked upon Hera as she wiped a small tear from her face, and then continued to laugh. Siwang's and Zhuque's eyes narrow. Xuanwu tilted his head, his snake tail hissing at the woman. Nuwa's sobbing broke and she looked up at her. Qinglong's mane bristled and extended his claws as a low growl sounded in his throat. After a few minutes of having to listen to Hera's raucous laughter. Bailhu, the one with the shortest fuse, couldn't take it anymore.
"What's so funny you over grown tapestry wearing cue ball?" Bailhu glowered. She was this close to just rushing in and forgoing any consequences that might come from attacking her. However, unnaturally so, Hera stopped laughing and her face became a stoic mask, as if carved in stone.
"What's so funny is all of you." Hera said with an even voice with little variance in pitch timbre.
"What? Take that back you son of a." At this Hera suddenly released a divine pressure and forced Bailhu to lay down on her stomach.
"Son of... what were you going to say?" Because I'm certain you weren't going to insult our father by claiming him to be a female canine... right? Feelings of murder rolled off Hera. The feelings were shared by the rest of the Primordials as well. They may be upset, but they would never dare or even insult their Creator. Bailhu, feeling killing intent from all sides, gulped a mouth full of salvia, and shook her head. She cursed herself for being so loose lipped.
"Now, if you are quite calm, Hera drew back her pressure and Bailhu was once again able to stand. I have a few things to say about my existence." The Primordials all paid attention to her words as she continued.
"All I know, is that an instinctual needs to make sure that there is balance in all things and periodically report to father of anything pertinent. What is funny, is that you all think you can assume father's complete intentions without hearing it from for yourselves."
Stunned silence followed her words. Everyone reeling at the implications of what she said. Nuwa, excited, was the first to speak. A melodious, that claim all who bears it, echoed in the void.
"He's coming? Here? How? When?
"I do not presume to know. But we were all created for a purpose. It is only logical that after we have been created, what comes next is for us to find out what that purpose is. And the only way for that to occur, his for him to tell us. Thus, it can be assumed, that he will show herself to us when it is time."
