Chapter 6: Come, let's meet you.
June stared at the piece of paper she wrote the address on. She was almost certain the high-class restaurant she was staring at was the address written on the paper. But it couldn't be. Anyone who could afford this restaurant, should be able to afford a place bigger than Pepper's condo.
June exhaled. On the bright side, at least rent won't be a problem.
Catching her reflection on the glass door, June wished she had dressed better. A beautiful dinner gown would have been too much but it was better than the shorts and shirt she was wearing.
Who cares! June wanted to get it over with. She had a date with her boyfriend/married man and she didn't want to miss it. They had an important conversation to have. June needed to know when he was going to leave his wife. He owe her that much after eight months of sneaking around.
Pushing the bad stuff to the back of her mind, she pulled the glass door and entered. She was enchanted like she was in a fairy tale and a cartoon prince charming was going to jump out any time.
The atmosphere was so laid back. June stared at the high beaming ceilings and she was impressed by the eclectic décor that worked wonders for the ambience. It looked warm and inviting.
Mesmerizing!
June felt like a celebrity. The person she was supposed to meet, told her they would be at table four. June's eyes darted around, searching for the table when she was approached.
"May I help you?" The freakishly tall supermodel asked her with a smile.
"What?"
"Do you have a reservation?" The lady asked her.
June nodded. It made sense that one would need a reservation to get in.
"Hello!"
"I am meeting someone... table 4 I think"
"Of course. If you follow me, I will show you to table four"
The lady led her there, just at the end of the restaurant. It was private and nice. Pepper would have loved it except she was stuck with a blind date and probably feeling miserable right about now.
"Hey! You must be Ms Hart?" The guy that stood up made June's mouth just a little watery.
"And you are a dude!"
He was six foot ten with a body, one could kill for. June immediately concluded that it was either he was a supermodel or a nascar race driver or any other profession that has hotness as a must have thing.
"Excuse me?" The man sounded confused.
June ignored his confusion and further analyzed him. If she was going to tell Pepper everything then she needed accurate details.
Chiseled jawline... check!
Bright blue eyes, scratch that... beautiful blue eyes that would make a virgin take off her clothes...check!
Muscular body... maybe a little bit too muscular, that was a cause for alarm since he might squash Pepper but June shrugged it off.
As far as Pepper won't be able to make this mountain of a man cry then a little squashing was okay. And on a plus size, he had the capability to carry her to a near by clinic.
"Excuse me! Did you hear a word I just said" the man asked her.
"Yeah! Yeah! Just keep talking" June said dismissively. He was interrupting her analysis and she was obviously not paying attention.
"I am renting the condo for a friend...just for a month or two and I might stay there occasionally...."
The man might as well be talking to himself because June's had since moved on to his lips.
They were vivacious and delicious. Pepper would like them.
"How old are you?" June asked out of nowhere.
The man was taken aback. "Hmmm....32?"
June took out a notebook and wrote it down.
"What shoe size are you?" June doesn't actually care about his shoe size
"Is that question actually necessary?" The man was puzzled.
"Yes!"
The man told her his shoe size.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" June asked him. It was the most important question of all.
"No..."
June practically jumped up in excitement.
"But that is probably because I am gay"
June froze.
"No, you are not"
"Yes, I am" The confused man answered.
"You can't be gay"
"Except I am gay"
June dropped the notebook on the table.
"Oh crap!" She was very disappointed "Who is going to do my friend now?"
"Excuse me?" The man was in-between pissed and amused.
"Moving on...are you a serial killer?"
"No"
"A bad person?"
"That depends" the man answered.
"An alcoholic?"
"No"
"A creep?"
"I don't think so" The man found her question amusing.
"In the closet?" June asked finally.
"No, came out when I was thirteen" the man answered.
"So, it's still a yes on the gay thing?" June asked him.
"Yes, Miss...I am very much gay"
"Can you afford the rent's asking price?" June asked him.
"Yes, I can"
"Do you want to experiment with a girl? She is cute"
"No, thank you. Do you want to see my ID or at least ask me for my name?" The man suggested to her.
"Yeah, What is your name?"
"Keller.... Name's Keller..." Keller saw her open her mouth again and he quickly added "Yes, I am still gay"
"Okay, then. You are hired"June declared to him.
"This is not a job interview. Don't you want to check my background" Keller asked her.
"Will it convince you to b*ng my friend?" June asked him.
"No" Keller rather found her charming and funny.
"What about my brother?" June asked him.
"Is he gay?" Keller asked her.
"No but he could be if he sees you"
Keller chuckled. It was a compliment.
"You are funny. I like that"
June was serious but she smiled anyway.
"May I ask you why you want this condo? You are obviously rich. You can afford a better place" June asked him.
"Oh, don't mind these clothes. I am almost broke...I told my father to take his money and shove it" Keller explained.
June had a frown "That was quite stupid!"
Keller shrugged "I know"
