Chapter 46: I didn't kiss Hellfire
Asher watched as panic creeped in on Starr's face.
"Pepper!"
"Fine, I was talking about the snake. So, her stupid mother is fine, whatever" Pepper turned to Starr "She really tried to be here with you but you know, snake bite are nasty"
Starr smiled. "That's okay. You are my mother, now"
"Come on, kid. Let's go home"
Asher made sure that his family was settled in to the apartment after they left the cafe before he even thought of his brother. He was putting away Starr's clothes when Pepper walked inside and without saying anything, she started unpacking with him.
She appeared to be in deep thoughts as she started separating the clothes Asher folded only to refold them properly.
"Aren't poor people supposed to know how to fold clothes?" Pepper asked him.
"What's really on your mind?" Asher asked her.
"Nothing" Pepper muttered quickly, a little too quickly.
