Chereads / Lost between love and friendship / Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Noah has only one thing in mind: to reconnect with his best friend. The absence of the teenager weighs heavily on him, especially since they used to do everything together. Walking with a quick step with the aim of spending as much time as possible with Eliza, he is however aware that it will not be easy to be forgiven, having, on the one hand, hurt her and, on the other hand, he disrespected Angel by speaking to her with brutality. When he arrives, he will soon regret his gesture because he is opened by the latter and, even before they say anything to each other, he already senses animosity in the air.

- What are you doing here? she asks him furiously, when it doesn't make her happy to see him.

- Hi Angel, says the young man shyly, aware that he would have such a welcome.

- You didn't answer my question. What are you doing here?

- I'd like to talk to Eliza.

- That's out of the question. Do you think I'll allow you to hurt my sister again?

- I know I hurt her, but I would like to ask her forgiveness.

- It's so easy to apologize after being hurtful, but do you think it's enough? Knowing my sister, she will certainly forgive you, but that doesn't mean she won't suffer anymore.

- I regret the way I acted, but my reaction was completely normal, Noah says, trying to justify himself.

- Really? Do you find it normal to hurt your best friend?

- I sincerely regret what I did, but she shouldn't have called my conquest a whore either.

- Eliza called your girl a whore? Have you ever heard him swear?

- She did it well. Besides, she confirmed to me that she found my girl's clothes vulgar during our discussion. You won't let me see her, will you? Noah asks him to put an end to this unpleasant conversation.

- Why should I let you see her? So that you blame her more and make her suffer more?

- I won't hurt her. How many times will I have to tell you this for you to believe me?

- You can tell me as many times as you want, but that doesn't mean I'm going to change my mind.

- In that case, come with me to his room and you'll see that I wouldn't hurt him.

- You will have to come back later; she's not home right now, she finally told him.

- I don't believe you.

- It's the least of my worries whether you believe me or not. Say, before you go, there's something I want to know. You got mad at my sister just because she said your girl dresses badly?

- Yes, and I consider that to be reason enough.

- So, you get angry with a person only because they said something to you that you didn't like? That's incredible! What you gonna do if I call your girl a bitch? You will kill me?

- I got angry because I didn't expect Eliza to put someone down without making the effort to know them.

- My sister didn't put anyone down! She just expressed her resentment. Does she have to have your approval to do it?

- Please let me see her, he insists again.

- What don't you understand about 'she's not there'?

- I rather think that you don't want me to see your sister.

- Believe what you want; it's the least of my worries, Angel replies before going home.

The young lady is so annoyed by Noah's attitude that she is about to slam the door in his face. However, seeing her parents arrive with her little sister, she withdraws and leaves them with them.

- Good evening, Noah, says Alizee while her daughter is standing behind her, happy to see him even if she doesn't let anything show through. I take it you're coming to see Eliza?

- Good evening, Alizee. Yes, I came to see her. Could I talk to her for a few moments?

- I'm not going to say no, but first I have to talk to you.

- I'm listening.

- "Why do you have to talk to him mum?" Don't tell him that I'm in love with him! she suddenly worries.

- You know that I like you a lot and that I like seeing you and my daughter together, but do you know that Eliza is not well at the moment and that it affects her studies?

- I knew she wasn't well, but I wasn't aware that it had an impact on her studies, he told her disappointed, not expecting it to go that far.

- Well, guess what? Besides, her father and I are fresh out of high school; we were called by his teacher who told us about the problem.

- "I'm sorry it got this far," Noah told him with his head bowed.

- She told me that you had an argument and I find it really ridiculous. You can't yell at yourself for something so stupid anyway! You've known each other for five years and your ties should be stronger than that!

- You are right Alizee. I am at fault in this story.

- I accept that you see each other tonight so that everything goes back to the way it was between you, but if this kind of argument happens again and it affects Eliza's studies, I will have no choice but to prevent you from seeing each other. I'm sorry my boy.

- I understand you and I promise you that this will not happen again.

- I hope so. Well, I'll leave you and try to be good, she told them and, before leaving, Alizee gave her daughter a kiss on the forehead.

- "Thank you for not telling him, mum," she said to herself, relieved, while her mother kissed her.

As soon as Alizee returns home, Eliza finds herself face to face with the man she loves. As Noah looks at her, the girl's heart pounds. She is touched that he came to see her and she hopes with all her heart that everything will go back to the way it was before because she values their friendship enormously and she doesn't want to lose him for a story of feelings.
