Darniel held on to the wheeled stretcher whispering reassuring words to Emily as the medical personnel rushed with her down the empty halls. He promised her she'd be okay, but that was only a hope he held in his heart.
Seeing the shirtless man rush in with a severely injured woman in his arms, the doctors and nurses didn't hesitate and immediately did a small run-through check on her before rushing her to surgery.
Darniel held on until the doctors were about to pass through the swinging double doors of the surgery room.
A middle-aged nurse approached him with an empathetic look on her face. Before she could speak, Darniel told her, "Don't bother telling me she's gonna be fine, I can do without that lie."
His words didn't silence the woman, she spoke regardless of him walking away. "You mustn't lose faith, young man. Our surgeons will do everything in their power to save her."
