After a tricycle ride, I finally arrived. Slowly, I walk the flooded pathway to our home tiptoing on some random stones perched by our neighbors to make sure you don't get your shoes wet going out of our compound. As long as it rains from moderate up to a heavy downpour, you'll surely have to expect our road to be flooded. We belong to one of the Barangays that are considered as low lying areas susceptible to flooding and storm surges.
As I opened the door there I saw my mother sitting and resting in our Papag, a bamboo bed-like structure used when having a siesta (afternoon nap). I slowly creeped inside so as not to disturb her. She's now of old age and she needs to rest a lot.
Arriving at my room, I heaved a sigh of relief. At home at last. I put my bag at the side table and laid side lying. I prefer to sleep this way because it gets harder to get up from bed when you're two months short of popping the baby out. Feeling the relief on my back and legs, I fell soundly asleep shortly.
I woke up at five-thirty in the afternoon, shocked to see myself still in my school uniform. I changed and went directly in the kitchen, ready to start my self obligated chores. No one assigned me of these, but no one does it either.
So as quietly as I could , I started to wash the dishes. Then I boiled some rice, taking notice of the good quality of the grains. I then looked at the fridge and scavenged some ingredients I needed to make a soup out of my brother's caught fish. This kinds of fish are good for soup or with sauce.
After cooking I then went out to sweep the surroundings of dried leaves. I surely swept early in the morning but because it rained surely, some new leaves fell and scattered around. Next, I checked upon my potted plants. Rearranging and adding soil, checking for larvae, snails and grasshoppers on some with its leaves eaten by some insects and watered them all.
Then going back inside the house, I folded the dried laundry segregating and arranging them back in the closet according to color. Feeling some sand on my feet, I then seek the broom and dustpan. I ended it at six-thirty in the evening, just in time for dinner.
