Once my voice returns to my normal monotonic tone and my face returns to its stoic expression, I start talking again "Wesley, stealthily bring back those that were turn rogues when Joseph took over, call the number I gave you, it's the rogue king. He will help you find them. Get them ready in the outskirts of Nick's territory".
"I will do as you ask" he says happily but respectfully... I don't like where this is going.
"Ho..." I hear Ben's amused sigh; I end the call immediately after hearing that and give the cell phone to Ben. I felt something annoying would happen if I didn't.
Don't ask... don't ask...
"Why was he acting so respectful?" I end up asking, curse my curiosity.
"You seriously don't know?" he says surprised. "You're giving him a sense of accomplishment, a light of hope, and you seriously ask why he's being respectful? You're giving us a purpose, a chance to help and be part of something bigger than us. You're helping us take down horrible people" he says with an expression that says 'it's obvious'.
He sighs in defeat and puts a hand on his forehead "Sometimes I forget how clueless you are at the way you help people".
I tilt my head in confusion, I don't understand what's he talking about. Helping? I'm literally using them for my mischief, and they know it. I'm not helping them; this is merely for my own self-satisfaction.
I brush off everything he told me, and I relax. I already told Aidan, Wesley, and Ben what needs to be done, and Eliza is keeping an eye on the Red River's territory. The only thing left right now is to wait and relax. Ben snaps his fingers, and the ropes tighten around me, the same way they were before.
"He's here, Nick and Joseph's warriors arrived at the camp and are looking for you" Ben informs me, and I sigh. The documents in my hands are now scattered around the floor, but he immediately makes them float and land in his hand as if the documents had never fallen.
"Is everyone running away?" I ask calmly.
"Most of them, some are staying to keep them away, not fighting, just keeping them in place" Ben keeps giving me updates.
I nod satisfy at the proper way this pack handles things. It would be too suspicious if they just run without fighting, that's why they're making 'time' to run even though they've been ready for hours.
I stay in my spot until the door opens with a loud bang, pieces of the old wooden door fly around, resulting in the door's destruction and I see Nick standing there looking at me with worry and fear all over his face.
"ALICE!" he shouts, relief at seeing me alive. Well, I did leave full of injuries, so I get why he's relieved.
He tries to run toward me, but Dylan puts a hand on his chest. "STOP! The floor is full of wolfsbane and silver!".
Nick glares at him, angry he stopped him, and I have to suppress my scoff.
Why are you angry at him? He's trying to keep you safe.
"Nick, you have to stay strong! We're on enemy territory! If you get hurt, we will not be able to take her to safety!" Dylan keeps saying and Nick's angry expression disappears, staying calm.
"...you're right" he says while breathing heavily "Alice! Just stay there for a couple of minutes, and I'll get you! I promise" Nick says, and I have to work really hard to stop myself from frowning.
Did he seriously just forget that I jumped off a window to escape him? I know why I'm staying here but does he seriously think I'm going to feel safer around him? No, let's stop thinking about this. I have to play my part and if I keep thinking about this, I will end up showing my annoyance.
I try to act scared for a minute but honestly, I just give up. I'm not going to act, that would be too annoying. I'm just going to do whatever I want.
"They all left" Ben informs me after a couple minutes.
"No one left behind?" I whisper and he replies "No one".
I nod, I know they're all capable, I don't have to worry about them, they will do as instructed.
Minutes pass and I hear Nick shouting from outside the cabin "Don't go after them! Our Luna is priority! Secure the perimeter!".
Many voices shout 'yes, alpha' in unison.
"One of us will stay here to keep you updated" Ben informs and bows, I sigh at his act of respect "I need to go and train the new guys" he hums happily while fading away... I feel an ounce of guilt towards the 4 ghosts that he will be training. I know he will push them to the limit.
A young-looking woman is the ghost that stayed to keep me updated on what is going on outside.
"Alpha" she says respectfully.
I stare at her, and she smiles apologetically "sorry! I mean ruler!" she tries again but I keep staring "king?" she keeps listing title after title "Sovereign?" she keeps going and I keep starting "lord? No? ummmmm... what about chieftain?... alright your face says, 'no way', monarch? Ok, you didn't like that one either... I know! What about Queen?" I sigh.
"Allie is good" I say once I get tired of listening to all the titles she tries to address me with.
"But... but you're my superior!" she tries again.
"You're dead, I'm lazy and the guys that made you think of me as your superior are crazy" I say tiredly in a low voice. "You don't need to address me as anything other than my name" I don't like people putting me on a pedestal.
"...Allie" she mumbles after a couple seconds, and I nod satisfied. "He's coming back" she informs me.
I look outside and Nick is walking towards us... Unfortunately really, I enjoyed my small vacation without them.
"Alice, we're going to remove the wolfsbane, just stay there for a moment" I see he's holding a leaf blower. I was expecting something more mystic, but I'm glad they're using common tools.
The machine starts and air blows to my face, I have to close my eyes and mouth and hold my breath but after a couple seconds the air is gone. I open my eyes and there's a path clean enough for Nick and his peers of idiots to walk towards me.
Nick runs to my side, and I feel anger... I thought I already let go of that anger, apparently, I was wrong, how amusing. He unties the ropes keeping me on this chair and I get up.
He extends his arms ready to pick me up, I take a step back.
"Don't touch me" I say lowly.
I don't even want to be near him, I'm not going to let him think I'm going to thank him for coming for me.
"Alice..." he whispers "I-I know I hurt you but... I came to save you..." I really have to fight the laughter, I really do but I'm able to stop myself. Save me? The only reason I had to pass through any of this is because of him.
I walk out of the cabin and look back at him "Lead the way" that's all I say and surprisingly he doesn't pursue the issue.
We walk quietly towards a pickup truck. Nick opens the door for me, and I wince annoyed.
Once I'm comfortably seated, I look outside the car, inspecting every warrior that came here, making sure no one is gravely injured, and just like I expected, they're not. I nod satisfied. I knew Aidan and Will were good at their jobs.
I'm a person that destroys her enemies, but these warriors are not my enemies. They're just unfortunate people that got mingled in this mess. They don't deserve to die.
I hear Nick giving instructions to leave the place and after 10 minutes everyone is ready to go, several cars with many people inside are ready to leave the scene.
"Alpha Joseph, thank you for all your help, I don't think we would've been able to find my mate so fast without your aid" I hear Nick talking outside the car, shaking Joseph's hand. What a stupid idiot.
"What time is it?" I know it's nighttime, the sky is black but what time is it exactly?
"12:54 am, Allie" Anisha, the ghost task with giving me information, says.
I nod, letting her know I heard her reply, damn, no wonder I'm sleepy, this is far too late for what I'm used to. I want to sleep but I'm cold and I don't like to sleep cold.
"Alice? Are you alright?" Nick's annoying voice interrupts me, he's in front of me, looking at me worried and with such a sorrowful gaze. He's acting way too tender to be normal.
