"You coming?" she asks Lucas with a loving voice, she's looking at him as if he was her most precious treasure.
"Not now, maybe later, I'm going to stay with Aunt Kat just a little longer" Jos nods at his answer.
She grabs my arm and we start running off, instead of taking the elevator, Jos runs towards the stairs and we start going down to the second floor, by the time we arrive my sides are killing me, begging for air.
I hear Jos giggle "Let's go to train with the warriors tomorrow! You need training!".
"I rather jump off a train" I say while gasping for air. She keeps laughing and opens a small door for me. It's so small I have to crouch, and I'm not particularly tall.
I get inside and lay on the floor looking at the ceiling, breathing harshly. Jos is far more athletic than what should be acceptable. The world would be a lot more peaceful if people were not athletic and were lazy instead, we would be so tired we wouldn't have time to think about war.
"..e… llie… Allie!" I turn my head over towards the voice. Jos completely broke my line of thoughts. I sigh.
"mmh?" I manage to say, and she laughs.
"'the fault in our stars' or 'the notebook'?" Jos asks me.
"What is that?" I say confused.
"Movies" she says while mouthing a 'duh'.
"I see, I haven't seen them, you can decide" I tell her calmly.
"You haven't!?" She says as if it was the most shocking thing she heard in her life.
"I don't see movies often, but I do watch a lot of cartoons" I explain.
"Nu uh, can't do, these ones are masterpieces! We're having a marathon right now!" She says enthusiastically and that's how our marathon starts.
By the time we finish both movies, Jos is sobbing next to me while I'm dead staring at the screen. So much drama, I guess it was… good? I don't understand why she's crying but I guess I can't help it.
"So?" she asks expectingly.
"You're not going to like my answer" I say calmly "but I enjoyed our time together".
"Well, I guess it's better than nothing" she laughs and suddenly she freezes, her eyes are losing focus and she stops talking.
She snaps out of it and sees me with fear in her eyes "He's looking for you".
"He took longer than expected" I say honestly "Jos, if this can get you in trouble I can go" I don't know how their community works but I know I don't want Jos to get hurt.
"Don't worry! It's not like that! He's just pissed but he doesn't hurt pack members"
That was oddly specific if he doesn't hurt pack members that means he hurts others? Well, that's obvious, I found him fighting other wolves, he was more than ready to kill them. I can't judge them with my own values, though it's not like it would change much, I'm not the sanest person you can find.
I keep talking with Jos, even though she stops from time to time due to what she refers to as mind link. Apparently, Nick is going berserk looking for me, I don't understand how he hasn't found me.
"This room is like a secret part of the pack house, that's why it's so small, my actual room is the other side of this wall!" she explains after I asked her "You can only reach this place through the stairs or through the secret door in my room. I didn't want to risk it, so we took the long path".
I like the idea of a secret room; I will get one built when I buy my house. We kept talking about random things and eating junk food until it was late, around 9 p.m.
"I wonder what's going to happen with school" I say absent-minded due to all the food we ate.
"Don't worry about that! We have it covered. The director is part of the pack, Nick instructed him to make sure everything is good for you! We will bring you your homework and class materials, so no problem here" she says cheerily.
I don't like that Nick took the liberties to change my life but I'm not complaining about school, I like not going to school.
"I want to sleep" I say dragging my words "Let's go, I left my pj's in Nick's room".
"You sure?" she says insecure.
"I am, if Nick wants to be an ass, he can be one but if he wants to get along with me, he will have to calm down" I'm not going to argue with him, he's not willing to listen to me. My words are precious, and I don't want to waste them with him.
We get to the top floor, and I walk towards Nick's room, Jos on the other hand stays in the elevator, she told me she's not allowed here but that she will wait for me.
I take off Nick's shirt and put on my onesie, I hug the soft fabric and walk towards the elevator again. I decide to sleep in the secret room but first, we're going to stop in the kitchen for food.
"What are you wearing?" Jos says surprised.
I look down at my dinosaur onesie, but I find nothing strange in it "My dinosaur onesie?" I tilt my head and she starts laughing.
"That's so unexpectedly adorable!!" she laughs. She keeps laughing all the way down the first floor, but I fail in finding what was so funny.
We get to the living room and the place is full of people running around giving orders and looking tired. Nick is at the center of all this chaos and Dylan is laughing his ass off.
I pinch the bridge of my nose and sigh tiredly. I take Jos's hand and walk towards the kitchen. I refuse to fix this mess. We reach the kitchen and I sigh while making an unimpressed face. The kitchen is also full of people.
The moment we step in, everyone looks at us, one of them, which I recognize as one of my kidnapers runs towards the living room. I'm guessing he's going to tell Nick I'm here. Oh well, not like I care, it's already 9 p.m. I already got away for a whole day, I'm content with that.
I walk towards the trays with food and grab a light meal, after all, I spent the whole day eating junk food. Everyone keeps staring at me as if they can't understand why I'm so calm. I feel slightly sorry for them, they've been looking for me nonstop it seems.
I sit down and Jos sits next to me. "Hi, Richard" I say casually, Richard is sitting on my other side and next to him it's a delicate-looking man. I'm guessing that's his mate. I smile faintly, Leo was right, his new mate seems really nice.
I see Richard flinch and the guy next to him looks at him worried. It looks like he's unsure of how to act around him… I think I understand why. From what Leo told me I was able to deduce that Richard didn't treat his new mate in a good way, maybe because he felt guilty, so this person doesn't know how to act around him.
"He's flinching because he's awkward, don't worry" I address the delicate-looking man.
"o-oh…" he replies "Ummm… nice to meet you?" he sounds like a nervous squirrel.
I nod and go back to my food; I start eating but I only managed to take two bites before Nick stomps toward me. His face is red in what I guess is anger, he has a bunch of people walking behind him, not sure of what to do.
"Where were you?" he says in a low voice, is he trying to scare me? I guess he is, his fists are so tight his knuckles are turning white and his breathing heavily. Why is he angry at me? Anyone in my situation would've decided to hide. It seems he forgot I'm here against my will.
I shrug and resume my eating but before the fork reaches my lips Nick slaps the fork from my hand "ANSWER ME ALICE! This is gone far enough and I'm tired of your bullshit!" he shouts and everyone around me nods, except Jos.
With those words, I fell the last strand of patient snapping.
